Dish soap will strip the wax...

If you drag your hand over the surface and it feels gritty - you can you a paint cleaner (Step 1 in the Meguiars 3 step - Cleaner-> Polish-> Wax)

If the cleaner is not effective - go to a clay bar. If that doesn't work then you need to step up to a buffer with a decent pad and a slightly more aggressive paint cleaner (notice we a NOT talking a compound - use that and your paint is going to be toast!). If a clay bar doesn't cut it - seek a professionla detail shop. Doen't risk the paint ...
