When good bearings go bad...

My personal crown of thorns for the moment.

Note the naked bearing, about 3 had the crown partially or totally ripped off.

Gears not looking to bad.

The gears look pretty good to me. I did note some scoring on a few, probably where the metal bit of the bearing crown got passed through. They didn't look bad and there doesn't appear to be any play in the socket where the failed input shaft bearing is. Just need to make the decision to replace the input and main shaft bearings or go with a used (non-locking) tranny. My local Nissan dealer wanted about $900 to replace all the bearings, that's with me dropping off the tranny. I got to find me some one who can pull off the old ones and press on some new ones. Forget the needle bearings for now, I gots to get mobile.
