At worst the GC perch can't go much lower than it would be able to if the OEM spring perch were still attached right? It looks like you could just lower the GC perch as low as it can go with the OEM perch still attached, measure and mark the position and use that as a benchmark to not go any lower. I THINK that is what Steve is talking about. I don't think it should be an issue as long as you don't take the GC perch below where it could have gone if the OEM perch were still attached.
