Three-step wax job
Broke out the "virgin" Sentra matts (they are discontinued - I have a set just for shows so the letters pop white)
Hand-detailed the engine (that's lying on your back for a couple of days)
The inner fender liners were ratty and would not clean up well so those were replaced, plus the splash guards by the axels on both sides, plus the two up splash guards up front under the radiator (including all new fasteners so they'd look nice!)
All the wheels taken off, and polished
Cleaned up the coil overs and all the suspenstion bits you can see
Polished the muffler
Plus all the normal tricks
I'd like to thank Yahoo Maps for identifying all the coin operated car washed within a five mile radius of the hotel....
Oh yea - and I got up at 5 am in the morning while it was still dark to wash the car one more time before the show
The mechanical stuff before the race:
brake pads and fluid
new K&N filter
drain and replace tranny fluids, power steering fluid, oil with synthetic
drain radiator and block
new fuel filter, rotor, cap, plugs, front motor mount (ES bushing)
etc...

That beats the 12 coats of Zanio I put on the car. The 900 mile trip down there and the bugs did a number on the car. I did a major no no and used the brush at the car wash to clean the car. After I cleaned it at home, I saw all of the scratches in the finish, now I get to fix that. Here are some pictures I took before the convention: http://sr20.net/gallery/album210 The car stayed in the garage for a few weeks before leaving and it rained the night before we left, so the car got dirty as soon as I pulled it out.

I won Best of Class (B13) in LA, Best of Show in Dallas, then at the last convention best B13 and Best of Show. So there have been plenty of other winners
Thanks for the vote guys! Never got an award for the car so it was really cool.

This guy's not kidding. He was like a gunslinger the way he whipped out the rag and detail spray when he came across this calling card left by some damn bird
