Cliff notes, Rick was being helpful in towing Matt's broken car to the hotel, and his 2 week old Pathfinder was damaged. The accident was no one's fault, and everyone's fault at the sametime. The estimate to replace the hatch, paint it and install it is $1266 and change. I've talked to Matt, and we are going to try a raffle or auction for some parts we have, but if you would like to donate to help get his truck fixed, that would be geatly accepted. Rick was helping someone he had just met the day before, and he shouldn't have to pay for this, or go through insurance, becuase he wasn't there when the car tried to go on the trailer.
I have a paypal account setup from convention use, so we can use that. When the estimate amount is near to being reached, I can let evreyone know, or any extra can be sent to Matt for help with the forum fees. The paypal account is southeast@serca.org. Thank you very much for any help you can give.
Eric

I don't know Rick, but I do know what it's like to break my car on the track at a convention, and I was the recipient of much love and assitance from many people in attendance. So as to keep my karma in balance, I'm more than happy to make a contribution.
I met Rick at the Convention, he's a great guy, and he was trying to help someone out when this happened to his brand new truck. We all know having friends help you out is better than making an insurance claim (damn insurance companies)..

You guys rock. Thank you very much. Chris, Rick was at the '03 Convention. He has the black Spec V with the Fastbrakes kit. That was a long time ago, and you are older, so I'm sure you don't remember. j/k

But seriously, thanks to everyone that has donated money for the cause so far. Because I don't really have any extra money sitting around I came up with the idea of a raffle or auction. I am going to look around the garage and basement and see what goodies I can give up to help Rick who was kind enough to agree to tow my clutch impaired nx back to the hotel. I figure that there are others that might be in the same position as me and want to help but just can't send cash. We welcome any and all part contributions for the raffle/auction. This way we can get other people on the forum to help also by bidding on our stuff we donate and all the money goes to Rick. I will be starting a new thread for the auction and when that is done I will add a link from this thread.
