I know this is a touchy subject, as some people are in favor, and some are against it. But if we want a big showing at the 2006 Convention, and a renewed interst in SERCA, we should consider promoting the Convention to the newer SE-R's or changing the club name to SR20CA instead of SERCA.
I completely agree with vqman, if it is going to be SR20's only, the name of the club most definately needs to be changed. It's ignorant not to.

In your opinion should G20's and NX2000's be allowed to show up at SERCA Conventions?
and if so, I would suppose you would want us to change the name of the club to SR20CA? and drop SERCA? Afterall, if you don't want SE-R's to come but you don't mind G20's, Sentra SE's and NX2000's to show up, that makes it look like the "club" should be called SR20CA. Right?
Because banning SE-R's at SERCA events sounds a little weird to me.
personally, not only do I not care for the Altima SE-R or the B15 SE-R, but I don't even like the 200SX SE-R or the P11 (P11 w/turbo is sweet, but stock they are too heavy for 145 bhp).
Also, SERCA is about dead. It could use the boost of membership if we promote the club to the newer SE-R's and quit being so stuck up. A few B15's were at the 2005 Convention, and I'm sure there will be more next year. We might as well let the flood gates open and coordinate with moderators from Altimas.net and thevboard to get some sponsorship from their people as well.
And it certainly would be nice to hear a modded vq35 at Pocono's.

All makes, models, and years are welcome at our conventions! Anyone is free to register and historically SERCA members get first crack at the track day slots. This topic has come up many times and the state of SERCA and the future is still being figured out.
SERCA was made created before nissan started slapping the SE-R badge on every car that comes off the production line. If you're going to open up the club to Altimas and B15 SE-Rs, then you might as well let all those people with Nissan Quests join in too.

I wouldn't say they "slapped" the SE-R badge on the Altima SE.
Compared with the Altima SE, the Altima SE-R has a different tranny, a more powerful engine, exterior body modifications an upgraded brake and suspension system, the Altima SE-R also has larger wheels and more agressive tires than the Altima SE, hey, that list looks a lot like the list the original SE-R had over the Sentra SE.
The only difference is, you can't get LSD with the Altima, but you can get traction control.
And who's to say a 260 bhp 6 speed car with big brakes and a lowered suspension can't be an SE-R. How in the world can you say Nissan is "slapping" a badge on the car. You act like they didn't add to the cars performance at all or something.
of course with the clubs byline including
'A great car enthusiasts group has been formalized into a car club dedicated to vehicles powered by the Nissan SR20DE 2 liter DOHC engine introduced in 1990'
That's an interesting assessment considering the organizers of the Conventions have always welcomed the B15 SE-R, and in Austin this year they initially had an "Altima SE-R" category at the SERCA Car Show, however Altima SE-Rs were a no-show, so the category was dropped.
I'd like to see what the President of SERCA has to say.
