I'll hafta see what Ray's plans are, but if he's racing his NX, than maybe I can bum some time offa him??? I'm certain another trip to the Pizza place there will help convince him.
I know some of the other guys we hang out with were interested, but what sort of stuff do they need??? Just pay the normal track fees, or are their PDA dues as well??

Cody - unfortunately it's not racing like you're thinking of it. Ray will be tracking his NX but the car is not a race car and Ray does not have a racing competition license. It's a bit different :/ So, the short answer to Joe's question (for you) is that you will not be racing You can certainly drive and get some track time though! Bring the 240
Look forward to finally meeting you next week

I am if you are referring to "tracking" and not a full on wheel to wheel race.

There is still going to be a normal track event. The race would just be in additon to the normal lapping that would be happened. Joe is trying to see if there is enough interest/cars from the racers to see if its worth taking the time to organize as well.
No stories really at all...except tonight we were having some burrs and he said how you guys almost got sued because of crap on the forums once???
Yup, I still have the letter from the lawyer that I come across every once in a while just in case. I also have the letter that I fired back to the lawyer threatening to sue which shut him the F*CK up
Zipstrips, to track your car is similar to autox. To RACE is different though. Need to have a race license and the car needs to be certified by a sanctioning body, etc, etc, etc. Most of us will be "tracking" their car. Some of us (not I) will be "racing" their car (or looking to race)
Just to expand on Jeff's comments, this is a discussion of a true whel-to-wheel competitive event, such as SE-R Cup. What they are proposing here is a true RACE for competition-prepped cars (rollcages, safety harnesses, etc) with licensed drivers (e.g., SCCA, NASA) using competition safety gear (new helmets, full driver's suit, etc).
This is not a proposal to replace the scheduled HPDE ("track day") events, but to supplement them with a true competition session. So, to answer your questions directly, without a license, fully prepped car, and full dirver's safety gear, you would not be able to participate.
On a side note, there is no such rating as "Snell98"; Snell re-issues ratings every five years on the "0" and "5". So, probably what you have is a Snell95, and as I understand it all helmets for the open track day must be Snell 2000 or later.
