I never thought I would see the day. Well, here is some information about Matt for you new guys. http://www.se-r.net/matt/index.html It still brings a tear to my eye when I look at that and remember the day I read the terrible news on the old mailing list.

Matt I will be honest with you. Thats way too many things to vote for.

I would do something more like this.

Best b13
Best b14
Best b15
best g20
best of show
best beater
longest drive
Matt kempe award

I doubt we will see any b12's there, and as for 240's what are we going to have 2-3 maybe at best?

I agree with David. Make it easy on yourself and for the voters. A short list is all thats needed and if there are one or two categories that you would like to see yourself I would think that you have the freedom to go ahead and make that call since you are charge.

I sent you a pm about seomthing related to this.

I think the Matt Kempe award should be somewhat re-named. No ***-respect, but I would say only about 20% of the members know about him, and even less even knew him since he did pass away in 2000.

My first convention, I had no idea what constitued the Matt Kempe award. How about something like the Spirit Award in honor of Matt Kempe? If you word it like that, more people will have an idea of what it is about.

Josh

I think it started as the Matt Kempe Memorial Award for Spirit and Enthusiasm. I'll have to look when I get home to see what the proper wording is

Don't forget the "Best Rental" award. We've talked about having one for the last 3 years, put your money where your mouth is...

i read about matt kempe on se-r.net before i even owned a sr20 or even joined the forum. sad story indeed.

i like the list paNX2K&SE-R just add cleanest engine bay. best n/a set up and best turbo set up.

no one should have a problem voting, we know everyones cars already from seeing them on the forum.

Yeah, ditch the b12. I brought mine a couple of years, but there was never an award class for it, unless you consider it a beater. It won't be there this year, construction has been slowed way down with the move and all.

I say:
best in show
best swap
best nx
best b13
best b14
best b15
best p10
best p11
best rwd
best beater
longest drive
matt kempe award

These are a good compromise John and they are also what i had in mind as my core selections.

I'm not going to get too specific categories like best paint, best turbo, best n/a, best ve, etc. If someone wants to print up some certificates and have an informal voting booth or whatever so be it.

The Matt Kempe Memorial Award for Spirit and Enthusiasm is the proper name it's just too long to type every time. Geo is the best at giving the backround information speech at the picnic. If we ever let the meaning of the award die i will set fire to my cars and buy a honda.

No if you win in one the next person in line wins the other in terms of highest votes.
