I'm a big beer fan. Well, not too big...I mean, I'm a big fan and I like big beers...but, ah, fuggedabout it...
Anyway, whenever I traval to different places I like to get a feel for the differences in beers and wines. I never travel and drink standards; I can get Sam or Bass or Bud anywhere. Nope, I wanna try new stuff.
Well, we have a lot of folks coming from a lot of different parts of the country, and I propose a gathering: every one should bring a six-pack of beer that is unique to their home. Upstaters can bring in Gennesee, for example, while Geo is required by law to bring me at least two sixes of you-know-what (if not a full case; hell dude, I'll pay the extra carry-on fee!). Go to your local Mom-and-Pop package store and ask them for a native brew, bring it along, and we'll chill out and enjoy the differences. A good evening for that might be after the track day, or maybe Saturday afternoon/night on the off-day (I'm figuring on hanging out gawking at cars that day any way.) I'll have my enclosed trailer and we can toss in the coolers, chill up the brews, pull out the lawn chairs and enjoy the company. I'm sure some local pizzeria would be more than happy to deliver a kee-rapload of pies.
So, count me in for two sixes of a Connecticut beer; who else is "in" for my version of "pot luck dinner"?
Hey, no squawking from you airliner boys: I've brought home entire breweries in separate suitcases on trips. You can do fit a six in there, you're a big boy. - GA
One of the first things I do when I go somewhere I've never been is ask them what local beers they have on tap. Then, what local beers they have in bottles. If they have none of the above, I leave or order a mixed drink.
There are so many great micro brews out there, it amazes me when people just order some swill (anything made by Interbrew or AB).
I'll gladly round up a good sampling of local (NH/MA) beer to bring down. Harpoon IPA always seems to be popular when I bring it to out-of-state events. I'm a huge IPA/ale/pale ale fan. I leave the light stuff to the women and stouts to the people with stomach and digestive tracts of steel.
Can someone from the Indiana area PLEASE bring some Dreadnaught IPA (Three Floyds Brewing)? I've been wanting to try that IPA forever!

First of all, George will not be coming Bruce may see this and bring some for you though!
As for me, what'm I supposed to bring? Closest I could think of would be Ballentine from Newark but ugh! You can pick that up local to the hotel anyway. I'd love if someone could bring some Guinness from across the pond... oh wait

Wachusett....all of them are fantastic....its a central mass beer
Greg there are actually quite a few GOOD local breweries in eastern PA area. The biggest problem with PA is that you have to buy everything in a case from a beer store.
There is a great beer store in Allentown not terribly far away but again you have to buy in cases. (BTW Matt they have dreadnaught. Its $70 a case)
There is a brewery in Easton which is near the convention called Weyerbacher that makes some pretty good beers. One being called Blithering Idiot which lives up to its name.
