Tire tread

I was just wondering what the minimum tire tread depth is for the track event. I'm asking because on the PDA tech inspection sheet it says 3/32 and here it says 5/32.

Quote:
Since PDA is running the event, here are their rules:

Minimum requirements to participate in a PDA driving event:
* Be at least 18 years old
* Have a "SNELL SA-2000" or "M" rated helmet
* Wear long sleeve shirt & long pants while driving
* Have properly working seat belts on both driver and passenger side
* ALL convertibles MUST have an approved roll bar (main hoop should be made of .120 wall thick steel)
* Vehicle must pass tech inspection by your mechanic or our staff and Tech Sheets must be signed by both driver and inspector
* All vehicle safety related functions must be in proper working order
* Exhaust must not exceed 90 DB (except at Pocono!)
* Street tires must have no less than 5/32" tread or race tires.
Thanx Dave

when in doubt go with the sheet.

3/32 is usual for a shaved street tire so i wouldn't make a big deal out of it.

What they are saying is if you are running streets you must have 5/32 tread depth. If you are running race tires anything goes.

Another track question from a noob, The PDA rules also says "Exhaust must not exceed 90 DB (except pocono!) so my question is exactly how loud is 90 DB? And the course were going to be is that the rule for it? I have a side exit header on a N/A car which can be a little loud, will it be aloud? Or do I have 2 bolt back on my whole muffler system.

90dB is pretty damned loud! I had a sound meter a year or so ago and I think I only got it up to around 65dB and that's with S3 cams, HS CAI, Gen6 header, and Greddy exhaust.

Regardless, Pocono doesn't have a sound limit so you can rest easy. You might want to be careful though so you don't piss off all of your friends around you. I know if I had to deal with a hideously loud car all day, I might not look too kindly on the owner But we've all dealt with the extremely loud-ass rotary RX7's at the track so I think you should be good.
