If anyone is hesitant on going, watch this video I made from last year.
I know it has been like a year, but I just got a new computer so I made this last night. Hope you enjoy it, its more of a video from my perspective. Its possible this is not work safe at the very end, but it mostly just funny.
Bouncy Bouncy Bouncy... Why is she your "ex-fiance".. she's hot man!
I am also interested in the same subject. did you take the filming a little too far?! Nice vid BTW if it werent so far then I would go. maybe next year you can have it in KS the same weekend as the SYTY nats.

You guys are all so funny. Throwing out all these tracks and towns where the convention SHOULD be because it's close to you (and I guarantee you'd want someone else to do all the work - yeah, yeah, yeah, you'll SAY that you'll help out but when it really comes down to it, you won't)
Everyone who throws out these towns and tracks should do some homework. Like Eric said, price the track you're talking about. That'll really open your eyes. Price the track and figure on maybe getting between 75 and 100 cars so see how much you'd need to charge per person to make your money back. If it needs to be over $175 or $200, you may be in trouble. You'll need probably a half dozen local people helping you out too.
Theorizing and throwing around ideas is great and all but it's not as easy as all of you think. It's not as easy as suggesting a location, forgetting about it for 6 months, and then showing up to this awesome convention that has just materialized.
Come up with a plan, give some costs, and then come back with your suggestions.

I've already been throwing the idea around about having it in the SouthEast again. I would love to have it at Barber in Alabama, but $20k for the weekend, and that's just track rental, is a bit much for us. I figured after Chicago next year, it will be back west in '08, then maybe if we are still around, it can be here in '09. By then, the Nissan USA HQ will be built, so we can get them involved.

Eric - you're one of the people I know won't just talk about making it happen. And you've done it before so you know how much work it involves! It would be nice to take another trip down that way for another convention... somewhere I can drive to in a day or two!
