I hate to be a nag; but I've never been to convention before. I just had a rude awakening when I started researching directions for myself, from my "home base" in Lancaster PA where I'm staying with family Friday and Saturday night.
I realized that the picnic location, which is "close" to the track and everyone staying at the hotel(s), is three hours from where I'm staying instead of the two I thought it was.
I'm curious when the infopacks will be coming out - do they get mailed or do we pick them up when we get to the convention? I'm trying to put together my big picture and I want to try to avoid any more unpleasant surprises.

According to the letter accompanying my invoice reciept I received in the mail today for my registration, the info packs will only be handed out at the convention.
Yes, you will have a hell of a drive everyday. The track hotel is 2+ hours from Lancaster. The picnic hotel is another hour further east on top of that.

Well, I won't be in the convention area Saturday, I'm taking advantage of the free day to visit with family I only see a few times a year, so that's in the plus column. I'll be there for part of the day Friday and the picnic Sunday.
I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet; I paid Saturday, so I suppose a receipt may be making its way to me now.
I just had it in my head that the track and picnic were nearer each other than is the case. Such is life I suppose...
Can adavanced drivers run in both red and black groups?
I don't think so but Joe should answer that question. I think the black and red may be combined anyway because we have like 5 in one and 15 in the other or something like that

Many thanks for posting that. After seeing the times etc, I realize I'll be spending the weekend in the car... oh well, until y'all decide to have the convention in Ohio I guess this is how it shall be.

Oh boy... here we go again. It's not WE who decide where the convention is. It's where the people are who are willing to put something like this together. We vowed after the 2001 convention that we'd never do a convention again because it's so much work. Definitely after this one, I know that I will not organize a convention again. Consult a bit yes but not organize or co-organize. I was lucky to be able to spend so much time working on the convention this year since I had a 2-month period where I didn't really work much.
Fosters (I think)... you are in the white group (the more advanced beginner group)
edit: changed green to white group... sorry Josh... I thought it was green but you're actually in the white group

Greg, I appreciate the offer; I may take you up on it, but right now the driving is the price for getting to see some family that I rarely get together with.
