i was running 15psi with no water injection which i tried to get working for the life of me. I did pull out to goose the car alittle bit, but nothing crazy. I dont ever intentionally bounce the car of the rev limiter. I did get on first and couldnt catch it fast enough so it did bounce of the revs. I let off and tried hitting second and thats when the car blew. I wasnt intentionally bouncing the revs so lets get that ish straight

I am not taking a stab at your car or anything but you shouldn't need the water injection for only 15psi. If you do it would be wise to look into the reason why you need it before running the new engine.

HE DID NOT HIT THE REV LIMITER!!!!!!! AS IN HE DID NOT OVER REV IT AND PROCEED TO HIT THE REV LIMITER!!!!!!!!!! NO REV LIMITER WAS HEARD BECAUSE HE DID NOT HIT IT!!!!!!! (IT BEING THE REV LIMITER) hope all understood that...
video airs july 20th rich. . .
I'm not sayng he was riding the rev limit, but he did bounce of it twice before shift. I heard it, and I'm sure Mike G did as well, as that is what caused us both to look that way to begin with....if I was about 5 ft closer to that hill I could have watched the entire thing!
One thing however, did you just coast into the lot, or was the car actually still running when you came in? With all of the noise/confusion I couldn't tell 100 percent...

Ok guys, Joe happens to be one of the more serious members on the forum, his car is also serious. the motor took a dump, it would probably have taken a dump if he was idling around. IT WAS GONNA HAPPEN, so please quit trying to pin this on Joe!!!!

I have to agree.. To me it sounded kind of like this: "Bwaaaaaaa Bwap Bwap boom..chingailngling...rattle..rattle blup..blup..blup.."
At first I thought you were going to pop a rocker but when I heard the parts bouncing off the bottom of the car and the road (the "chingailngling"-part of the above description) I realized it was turning out a bit worse.
Hey I'm not saying it’s anyone’s fault or anything. Something in the rod area gave way that is it. Not much you can do about it. I’ve blown up a few motors in my past… it happens.
Good luck with the rebuild. It was a sweet looking set-up I hope you get it back to good or even better.

Depends on the turbo, octane of gas, engine temp etc. I usually flip the water on whenever I'm running more then 12psi on pump gas.
I always run it while on the road course. It helps keep cylinder temps down.
In any case yeah his motor blew, yeah you probably shouldn't have been burning up the tires.
All I have to say is: "Learn from it! If you didn't then all is lost!"
Who gives a sh*t? Seriously.. it's his engine, his car... his business. sh*t happens.. I've blown up my fair share of engines.. it's all part of the game when you're making big power.
That game should NOT involve driving around on public roads being an idiot. I and others in attendance at the convention drive the roads in that area regularly and wish not to be looked at in the same way as someone going around showboating. That is the exact reason I'll get pulled over just for having a "loud" exhaust while idling at a light!
I've heard enough from people I trust who were out there in the parking lot and saw/heard it and have come to the conclusion that you were being an idiot and got what you deserved. Sorry

I was standing right there, right next to the road in the hotel parking lot. In fact, if I remember correctly, I was talking to CT Joe's buddy Mark at the time (I sincerely apologize if I got the name wrong...) As we're standing there talking we all suddenly hear an engine excessively (for the street) revving on the road. I don't recall if it was due to high revs, hitting a rev limiter - whatever, it doesn't matter - but it immediately drew everyone's attention (as it was likely designed to do). At that very moment we hear a thump and a bunch of crunchy noises; anyone whose been around these cars for any length of time knew exactly what that meant. Joe coasted into the parking lot in front of all of us, spewing out vital fluids and metallic parts from the bottom of the car (I seem to recall the engine was still running for a short while, too).
It was very much a "Hey y'all, watch this!" moment.
Joe, you were showboating, plain and simple. You know it, we know it. It doesn't matter if you had a bad wire from the ECU, or if the water injection didn't work, or if the bottom end was original and spun a rod bearing a long time ago, or if the engine was getting tired as Mark indicated. You were showing off in front of God and Everybody and you got the attention you were looking for, for better or for worse. If you had done this the day before on the racetrack - where this type of aggressive driving is much more tolerated - then we'd all be doing a group hug feeling sorry for you and asking how we could help out. instead, you did it on a public street in front of the hotel where this conduct is typically frowned upon by society (if not considered illegal). You're an adult; all I think most people are doing here is asking you to take responsibility for your (childish?) actions. You blew it - literally and figuratively - and there's not going to be too much sympathy flying around.
That said, if I can be of assistance, either PM me or walk around the corner and knock on Matt Kessler's door; he knows how to get ahold of me.
What's done is done; let's all learn from it. Time to move on...
