Time for a roll and maybe raising the car up just a tad as well....
Yes, your concern is valid, but believe me, w/ those sticky tires, the roll would have been worse if it were any higher. And this is just about the right kind of stiffness we dialled-in the rear w/ the front to be on the softer side for better turn-in response . I also know that on tight turns, the car would slightly three-wheel. However, the car handled as neutral as can be and would rotate at will. None of those tires touched the fenders except on rare ocassions wherein the front right tire would slightly rub underneath the fenderliner at full compress, at a hard left-hander..(or maybe, the instructor was a li'l on the heavy side?,lol!). I'm sure If we had slipped another piece of nylon packer on the shock piston, it would have took care of that issue.
To my instructors that day Chris Scarpula, Lee, Trevor and Craig... How did it feel? It would be highly appreciated if you guys could also chime in and evaluate what needs to be improved in the handling department other than the driving. Wish you guys had taken the wheel at some point for assessment
not talking about body roll, talking about rolling the fenders.

Well, those tires were 225x45x15 Avon Tech Ra on 15x8 Kosei K1s (no spacers).
Actually, they just line up w/ the top of the flares (when viewed from the top).
But from a frontal view, they would seem to be sticking out, since the OEM bumper cover bottom-frontal area is narrow. Much so, viewing it from a rear view mirror w/ some concave just exaggerates that wide effect. Anyway, props to you on your car control (that you had not fought that spin. It would not have been a pretty day for both of us). Instructor was quick enough to direct us into the dirt to avoid the collission. We had to eat your dust though. Run off area was clean though, of rocks that would have scraped our oil pan.
Thanks again to Greg P. for another set of ultra sharp pictures to share w/ us. They're clear enough to identify alignment changes, slip angles etc., w/c could aid anyone in setting up their suspension.
Engh its not my first spin won't be my last . I had learned from pro solo and race folks that if you have to cut the wheel more than twice... your in a good shape to flip the car.. I have witnessed. My suspension is good enough that i know if i let off during a sping and go BOTH IN that the car will settle just fine.. The dirt was an inconveniance (mouth full) But it seems that area was broken in nicely by Junior and a few others that day..
It was definately fun fooling around with you and your car most of the day that day.. I had figured if i couldn't keep you off my ass by the nextel sign(about the same point as my 4th gear shift point) That i was gonna let you go..
as i got faster going around there (at some point 105-106) I wasn't letting you go unless you got right up on me..(which you did right before I spun )

yeah the car seems very low... But it seemed to handle very well out there on those racing slicks however you definately need to flare or roll the fenders... rubbing to the point of smoking can cause accidents...
Great shots, Greg!
I can even tell which ones are me driving Greg Amy's car and which ones are Greg by looking at the helmet (well, and my accompanying cloud of dust.)
