JP, let me know if you guys need a dyno hook up. I can put togheter something for you. I can get a 4 wheel dyno even if there is need for it. Ofcourse it will be a DynoJet. I only know a few people from this forum personally from the TX convention in 00 I belive. Most of the folks here I do not know, as I don't frequent this forum all that much. I'm part of the SE-R mailing list, but it seems like that has seen its better days like back in 95-99 or so when it was very active.

I am involved with Maxima.org and we are having a Maxima Convention- aka MAXUS in Chicago next year also- in the votes right now, so its not 100% sure. I am trying to secure a track- Black Hawk Farms, and possibly Great Lakes Dragaway- as most Maxima guys are into drag racing more than anything else. We are going to have a dyno day also. Maybe we could collaborate the 2 conventions into one ? I think the last MAXUS brought in over 300 Maximas from around the country.... I am trying my best to make the Maxima convention here, and majority of the people actually want to come to Chicago- its a great city for sight seeing, partying etc.

While we would love to look into Gingerman one of the things we are going to do this year is only have 1 hotel. This would not be possible with Gingerman. As of now we are leaning towards the Autobahn.

I can already tell you that AutoBahn will not let you run there, and if they do- look at how much it costs to rent out the facility for a day. I think your best bet will be Black Hawk Farms, its cheap and not restricted to members-only : The Autobahn.

Woah, Gingerman! That is in my back yard! There aren't a lot of hotels, but there are enough to manage without to long a drive (Maybe 15min at most for the furthest ones). The SVT/*** club is there every year with many cars and the facility fits them with no issue. To keep it in Chicago, I agree with the PLAYA! Jez is there and knows and I have heard from other forums (VW and Vette) about tracks there and Black Hawk Farms seems to be the most reasonable from what I have read. I personally haven't been to either of those tracks though.

What kind of retarded facist comment is that? I don't need to have been to a convention to know that I won't drive to Texas or Pennsylvania because it's longer than I want to drive. He obviously feels the same way. It might not matter to you where it is because you feel it's worth the drive, but that doesn't mean everyone else feels that way.

I totally agree w/ Kieran. Until you have been to a Convention, you really have no idea what they are about. If it is far away from you, then you won't drive and that is that person's decision. I've driven 8 hours, 14 hours, and 14 hours respectively. The only one I have missed (since being an SE-R guy) was '04 in SoCal. I wouldn't have driven, but probably flown except I was in a wedding the weekend before on the other side of the country.

Personally, I really tire of people commenting that some place is too far. Not trying to single 1 person out, but cumulatively each person saying it is annoying and I'm not even helping these guys plan it.

Statements like these are part of the reason why this area was probably locked in the first place.

Try to make it to a Convention and you will change your mind. Having hung out and met people from all of the country is awesome.

Josh

Never been to a convention, but since this one is in my backyard, I'll go. Not only that, but if you guys need another set of hands, I'm willing to donate some time and effort in making the Chicago SERCA a reality. Would be great to finally get on a track.

Let me know if I can be of any help as well, JP.

Earning some brownie points in the community for some helping hands in monkey-wrenching my car won't hurt either.

I already said, I don't need to have been to a convention to know that I'm not going to drive more than 8 hours to get to one. Plain and simple. I don't care if they're handing out blowjobs and threesomes with hot blondes, I'm not driving more than 8 hours to do it. And I'm not going to fly in so I can look at other people drive and show their cars. You people with your high and mighty, "It's a convention thing, yeah, you wouldn't understand." attitude make me laugh.

It's retarded jerkoffs like yourself that make me laugh. "ooh, ooh, bring the convention near me because I don't want to drive" and you won't do a thing to help plan or bring a convention near you. Let everyone else do the work so you can reap the benefits... yeah

Well, that's a nice attitude... Hey, I didn't feel like driving to PA this year.. But, I'm not going to complain about it being so far away. Last year, it was in TX.. so, we went. It just wasn't practical for us to go this year.. with work, the family, and the business.. leaving for 4-5 days just isn't really possible.

I understand that you don't want to travel.. and that's cool.. but I don't think anyone is "high and mighty".. or anything..
