Tiffany (Sumpsychochic), Kimmie (ArtOfDisaster), and I drove to Chicago this year and have already started the planning for our trip to Vegas. I have done a lot of preliminary work for the chance to get 2009 back to the southeast.

The discussion runs from posts 87 to 187, with the main information regarding costs in post 101. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping to hear back from whoever makes this decision. I already started a list of people who want to help.
Go to Vegas next year and help us in 2009. And then make a pitch for Florida in 2012 or 2013.

^^ your right, so bring it somewhat towards the south and ill get some people from my area to go. Then we can see about a florida one.
The convention shouldn't have to come to you for you to go to it. If you want to show support, fly up to Las Vegas next year, get a feel for it, then do some planning.
I already know that putting this thing together is way over my head, and I'd have more fun attending one elsewhere than putting one together.
I do think its lame that everyone in FL that wants one here, does nothing about, and never goes to one, and won't go to one unless its near by. I give Will a lot of credit for going to past conventions, he drove to the CA one a few years ago from south FL, that shows support and dedication. If he were to plan something, I'd lend a hand, that's for sure.

Well said,
I have been to 3 Conventions. I drove to Alabama & Chicago When it came to the NE I attended. It looked like alot of work, that i dont think i can even handle with my schedule. But when it ever comes back to the NE i am definatley going to be more involved.
P.S No questions asked im going to be in Vegas next year & With my car!

It seems like the same kinda pondering goes on here as it does on the maxima.org forums- where to hold the next years convention.
Myself and a few locals dedicated our selfs to making a convention in Chicago this past June. It turned out pretty good, only thing lacking was a road course track.
Regardless people are asking for it to be in their back yards now, and basically we gave people 3 months to figure out WHERE and WHEN will next years convention will be hosted. Guess what, on September 1st- its going to be back in Chicago. People yap their mouth about how they can do this, and how it would be great to have it in their back yard. Yet NO ONE stands up and does anything.
This coming year we are renting out Autobahn for our race track, and all the SE-R guys are welcome to come if they wish. Its going to be lonely for me on the track with all these 1/4 mile queens which can't turn, I need someone to play along with on the track

Can I buy anything with these "Serban Credits"? or apply for a Serban credit card perhaps? haha
Seriously, conventions are more work than most people realize.

I plan to lend a hand for 2009 in the south east (if it is in fact in GA), I hope that will give me a better idea what needs to be done for a convention in FL. Also, FL is big, driving all the way to south florida is a little unrealistic for many people. I think if it happened here it would likely be in the north-central FL area.

Quite honestly, the cars are the smaller reason to go to the convention. Most people just go to hang out with other cool people. I guess that's the difference between those who 'get it' and those that don't. I flew to two conventions, no biggy. Get a rental and rag the hell out of it on the road course.

for sure. It is fun to drive ANY car on a track, even an automatic dodge neon.

I agree with this, but I would feel weird without my car at a convention. I think some would agree. its not only about the cars I understand. I've been to a few meets without my car and felt very weird. Plus I saw what one of my friends went through at a convention without his car. I think he took it a little far though and got on my nerves. Either way car or not a convention is still fun!!!!!!!
