the regular rates at Embassy Suites appear to be in line with some of the strip hotels. does anyone know if we're gonna have a group discount? i think i'm going to look into using my timeshare.

That doesn't really help those that haven't been to a convention, yet. I myself am wondering what I am going to be expected to pay, so that I am prepared for it. I don't want to just drive up there pulling the SE-R, and not have the fundage readily available to spend on things while I'm up there.

Of course I know what to spend as if I were just going with the wife to Vegas, but there are other costs associated with conventions that are out of the norm, such as track costs, etc.

Most of the costs are paid for up front, so anything that will cost money that you pay for when you get there, are food and hotel. Track, shirts, raffle tickets will be announced shortly.

As currently planned, the Convention falls 10 days after a couple of "10" milestones.

- 10th anniversary of having a full driver's license
- 10th anniversary of getting the SE-R, my first car

Do I celebrate the freedom and adventure of youth with a 40-hour road trip in the darty, deafening, radio-less heap?

Or does the G20, the miles-slaying sports couch, get the nod? Or even just driven to an airport?

Hrm, plenty of time to plan. Start saving your money now. You gotta be there, everyone.

Not having the special 10 considerations, I share your car of choice dilemma as you know!

Wonder if I could talk my wife into driving up with me?

Nah, gonna grab the earplugs!

The problem we have with the strip is we have to have a hotel to accomidate trailers! I am trying to get us on the strip but if not Embassy is less than a mile from the strip! I will let you know as soon as it is set!

I'm too lazy to retype all the costs because my computer logged me off the forum as I was typing... I figured for myself and my wife with a few extra days and not sharing the hotel room would be about $3,800. If I went on my own and did it budget-minded, I could probably do it for around $1,000

Yep. I remember the last time I was there, most of the parking lots had signs saying no trailers or RVs. I think that Embassy would probably work out just fine. Being on the strip is great, but it'll be annoying for anything other than gambling or dining.

Guys, keep in mind that if you're in a hotel on the strip, and you're trying to drive somewhere in the evening, it's going to take about 15-30 minutes (sometimes more) just to go a couple of blocks. On the other hand, if you're off the strip and want to head in, it's a pretty quick trip.

The other thing is the best buffet in Vegas is the World Buffet, which I think is in the Rio, off the strip.

I agree with Rockwood on that. We can always drive to the strip. But as far as staying on the strip that might be a pain getting in and out.

you don't want to drive to the strip. Taxis are your friend in Vegas.

We could always try the RIO. Close to the strip and plenty of trailer parking.

We can look into that. Embassy is the hotel that is usually used for conventions. The only reason we were looking into others was because it is Vegas and many eople wanted to try to stayon the strip.

I can talk to my sister-in-law is a manager at the Embassy, so I'll ask her if she knows what the rates are and if she can get any kind of discount. Is there a way we can find out approx. how many people are going to attend? Because im sure hotels would want to know this.
