Green Cruise Light Flashes when Turned On.

Hello All! I love having Cruise Control on my car for the long trips and have been missing it for a FeW MonthS now. "Lazy" So here is my questions to see if I can get ahead of the game when diag on the Cruise Control begins later this Weekend. 1997 Nissan 200sx Se-R MT: When I turn on the cruise control from the button on the left hand side of the dash the green cruise control light starts flashing in instrument cluster. When I mash any of the buttons on the steering wheel "ie:set, resume" the light will stop flashing as long as I hold the button down. Let the button go and the green light starts flashing. Of course the cruise control will not set either. If anyone has had something like this please reply and thanks Nissan Gods.

That indicates and issue with the system. I think the FSM has a procedure for that. I'll try to look later.

Mine does this only when the lights are on. But my issue came when I installed LED bulbs for the brake/parking lights, since the system doesnt "see" them(low resistance) while the light circuit is being used.

So was anything changed from when they worked to when it didnt?

Mine started acting goofy years ago, would randomly blink at me, ended up being the switch under the clutch pedal that turns the cruise off when you hit the clutch. Also I know the tube that comes off the pump can crack and then you don't get any pressure.

Yes I have had L.E.D tail light bulbs for some time and mine would do the same thing. It will flash at you because of the low load L.E.D. It has been so long since it has worked like it should. I finally got a speeding ticket and want to get this thing fixed for good.

I checked the clutch switch and found no problems other than the switch it takes to start the car. I had a rubber grommet that was coming apart. I replaced that with a new one and the car starts with out really having to step on the clutch so hard. That reapair still did not change the cruise control problem. So starting back at sqaure one.. Thanks for the help though

On my 95 B14 the light will flash if I am holding down on the the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel when I hit the switch on the dash to activate the cruise control system. I believe the problem that you are describing may be a clock spring issue in the steering wheel - so my questions are:

1: Does the horn work
2: Does the SRS light flash
and
3: Disconnect the cruise control buttons at the steering wheel - if the light continues to flash when you activate cruise then it may be as simple at replacing the 3 button set.

Good Luck

I've got the same problems with my son's 97 200SX SE-R. Horn and cruise do not work, and occassionally the Air Bag light flashes. I've reset the air bag light a few times but it keeps coming back.
I've repalced the horn relay and checked all the fuses, so I'm thinking it's the clock spring. Nissan is proud of that clock spring if you buy it new so I'll be searching car-part.com to begin with.

What model Sentra's have the same or compatible clocksprings for the 200sx.
Can I assume 1995-1998 Sentra's?
