How many of you have taken the pin strip of the side of the car? How did you get it off? Does it leave noticable lines when removed? I have a super black B14 so I know there will be a dark line left behind.
Thanks
depends how old the stripe is.... if your car is real old then there will be a mark cause the paint is not faded underneath. if its not that old you should be ok. I have taken mine off of my other cars and they where fine.
I took mine off. I have an aztec red B14. It took a while to buff of the little bit of glue that was left behind. But the "tan line" is barely noticable.
I bought my 97 se-r in 2001 and it had 27,000 miles on it, My car didn't have pin stirpes on it when I bought it. maybe the previous owner took them off but I have no lines at all.. I dont see why you wouldnt be able to buff the lines out so it doesnt look bad.
I took the lines off, just use a heat gun to soften it up, and then either adhesive remover or gasoline to get rid of the nasty gunk it leaves behind. Followed up by a car wash and a quick amount of polish and wax, and add +5 to all beauty roles.
If u wanna take ff the stripe use a heat gun as said above the a good product 2 use thats clear coat safe is 3M bug and tar remover its sold in a small tin (great stuff) this is where the fun begins after the stripe is gone , u might have a line 2 things come 2 mind ...if ur really anal its wet sanding followed by all the steps (pain in the ass) or u can use a clay bar 2 get the rest of the paint to try and mach that little strip of good paint ur sorry ass has left
I don't have a heat gun, but would a hair dryer work? I have a 1997 black B14 and the paint is a little faded, so I know some "tan lines". How well does a clay bar work. I have been wanting to try one for a while, but haven't gotten around to buying one.
Thanks
i bouth the black car brand new in 1997. Pin stripes came off in the 1st week. Pin strip ghoasts have always haunted me. They do not go away on a black car.

A hairdryer is fine to use. Thats actually what I used. BTW the clay bar is great, but its a little bi0tch to take care of. Its like $20 for the "kit", and then they say to "wrap it in plastic wrap." Well I did just that (!!) and my bar ABSORBED the plastic, in essense ruining the bar. BOOM TWENTY DOLLARS GONE! Plastic bag that mofo if you buy one. It works fantastic though.
i took my stripes off...but i just carefully peeled them off since they were starting to come off themselves anyway. but i'd reccommend using atleast a hairdryer to loosen up the glue.
Its been pretty cold here for the past few weeks but I am going to try and take the strips off on a sunny day when it is a little warmer. I may try to find a car detailer that will buff the whole car. I have been wanting to get the car buffed professionally since I bought it.
