16 inch rims rubbing against sidewall??

Anyone else ever have this problem? My 15's right now rub against the sidewall when I turn on a corner or u-turn and if I put the 16's on then i think they'll definately be rubbing so i'm hesitant to put 16's and spend money on tires plus it doesn't look like 16 inch wheels can fit in their, the 15's look cramped already...to me...

just wondering...

You don't have the car lowered and you do have the stock 195-55-15s on right?

I run 16s on 205/45 tires with no rub I have ground controls that I think are 1.5" drop right now I could go lower but that would be stoooopid. If you have eibach sportlines which are almost 2'' drop there is a possibility of rubbing

Everything is stock on the car...so no aftermarket springs and still stock wheels. BUT I seriously do not believe that 16's could fit and NOT rub against the sidewall either when turning or whenever. Their is very little space from the back of the wheel to the front of the sidewall...maybe a couple of inches.

I run Sportlines on the front of my car w/ pro-kits on the rear with 205/45/16's all around with absolutely no rub. And I don't even have sway bars yet, though I'm hoping to change that soon. I also run 205/40/17's on the same set-up w/ no rub also, so it sounds weird to me to be rubbing at stock ride height. In need of shocks maybe?

there is no reason why u should be rubbing stock. Unless you're running on 195/65/15 rubs...... thats another story.

Have you checked your alingment recently???
I knocked my car out of alingment and my stock wheels were rubbing the shocks at stock ride height

Now that i got my alingment fixed my 205/50/15's don't rub at all

I also will agree that you shouldn't be rubbing with on stock sus and wheels.

I run 205/50/15 in the summer and the stock 195/55/15 during the winter. The wider tire in the summer has never given me problems (Only marginally wider, I know :P) You might want to look into the your suspension carefully to make sure that it is all stock.

here are the pics I took today...notice the 2nd pic and tell me if the right side of the tire is too close to the side

I was comparing it to others today and i'm prolly just being paranoid....I guess what i'll do is buy the tire and put it on the rim and see how it is...Would it be safe to drive with one 16 inch rim/wheel on while the rest are 15 inch, just to see how it is? Just around the block??

Om my car the tires rub when I cut the wheel all the way to the stop. But I have eibach pro-kits and the previous owner put some dunlop 195-60-15's on it, I t barely rubs though. When I had 17's with 205-40-17's it did not rub at all.

I don't think mine looks like that... let me check.

Edit: No, mine does not look like that. It is centered in the wheel well on my fronts. Is something bent up there? Maybe a tie-rod or something?

I dunno, I hit a curb once HARD but thats it...but the other side was hit harder too (had to get an alignment done for that) though and It doesn't look like that...I don't think. What should I check for?? or what should I get it checked for??

I only rub when i turn and thats ONLY SOMETIMES. Not everyday. Only sometimes. But with 16 inch wheels I think it will rub a lot more on the sides more so than the top.

Someone else will have to give you a better idea of what could be bent to make it sit like that.

Post in the technical q section on the forums for a better answer... someone can help you there with more know-how of the front sus of a b14.
