Hi guys I was hoping you might be able to help me out. I just got a 95' 200sx se-r three weeks ago and I'm looking to upgrade the wheels and tires. I've been thinking about getting the 17" Axis VPD (formerly Lenso VPD) with Kumho Ecsta 712 tires. What do you guys think? Would I have to do anythign to the suspension or would the 17's just fit in fine? Would switching to the 17's have adverse effects on my ride (how far would the speedo be off? would anything else change?)? ---My car currently sits on the original15" stock wheels----And most importantly...would the 17's just look gay?
17 look good if you slam the car. I like Konig imagines. Post of pic of the wheel.

you are going to look like a 4x4 putting 17's on your car with no suspension work. If you keep the overall height of the wheel/tires then you will be fine.
every one suggusts the kyb agx/ groundcontroal coilover set up, personally i got a set of 75$ gold line springs off of ebay and am using stock struts, which i plan to switch out agx depending on how much money i have, that suspension will cost you 389 struts, at best and mabye 200 coils? not cheap stuff,
speaking of cheap, and back to the subject, how bout some cheap lighweight non bling bling, will be painted flat black reguardless anyway 17's for my vivid teal 200
You need to pick up the August issue of Sport Compact Car, they have their annual Wheel Guide listings in that issue. You will want some lightweight wheels fo ***!
As for suspension - are you after a look, performance or both?

Thanks man for the advice about that magazine, I'll be going out to get one. In terms of the suspension, I would really be going for a performance oriented setup, that would hopefully also look decent if I decided to go with the 17's.
Now here's where I could REALLY use your help: I'm in highschool and this is my first car. It came with its original set of stock 15" wheels and they are currently being used with a set of winter tires with a lot of life left in them. I don't have a ton of money to spend and I need to get some performance wheels and tires so I can get the winter ones off the road. I'd like to go with something light that looks good. You guys have been saying that I should also modify the suspension if I go with 17 inch wheels.
I can currently afford to spend about $1200 max for this job.
So..........what should I do?
A) go with some 17's and adjust the suspension
B) go with 16's and adjust the suspension
C) go with 16's
D) go with 15's
E) get some good 15" tires, put them on the stock wheels, and wait till I have more $$
I would go with this choice:
E) get some good 15" tires, put them on the stock wheels, and wait till I have more $$
I would say you'll be spending no more than $400 for the tires. Get some AGX and a set of G/C coilovers--used if possible-- and you will be all set until you have enough money to upgrade the wheels/tires. Figure about:
$380 AGX's
$200-300 used G/C coilovers
$100 misc. items
$400 tires
You'll probably have money left for a movie and popcorn
finally got around to cracking open the new scc, wow i'm impressed, problem here being no prices listed, i actually have to do more research so here's the deal, 11 lbs is the lowest for a set of 17x7's 11.8 to be exact, my money is on the only whay that those things arn't going to fold under curbdamage is if they cost a grand each, which wouledn't suprise me, so now my goal is to find the best weight to streignth to price ratio, one of you computer nerds write me up a program, kus i'm looking for somthing that is not existant
buy your 17s sell your stock wheels then buy the gc agx combo with money to spare

Any ideas where I could pick up some used ground control coilovers for my 95' 200sx se-r? I'm planning on posting a thread in the wanted section and I've been checking ebay, but all in all, coming up short. In my search for AGX struts I found this website that has them for $370 shipped. http://www.coximport.com/
Just wondering if anyone has heard about this company or bought from them before. They look pretty good. Also just thought you guys might like to about them since the price is pretty good.
I would stay with 15's and get some 205/50 series tires. Get light weight wheels...Konig makes some light ass wheels...I have Kosei K1's. I wouldnt go for a bigger wheel...keep your car as low key as possible.

this is what you need to do , stick with your b14 se-r wheels, follow serban's course on painting them gloss black, then drop that biatch, it'll look good
it's all your choice dude but i reccomend starting with suspension work. so for now change the tires and stick with the stock 15's. i understand everyone wants to floss some nice rims and ish but it's all whatever works for you. with the 17's and stock suspension you'll be ridin high, so my opinion, you'll look gay. go with a good suspension setup i've tried about 4-5 different set ups and the gc/agx is nice but you could go sprint spring if you are on a budget they look nice and don't ride bad. stay away from intax and aerospeed they are horrible i don't see how thay could sell them. eibach and h&r ride nice but leave the front end pretty high. congrats on your car and good luck
