New Suspension for B14!

I'm posting this here because my original post got no views.

JIC-magic has a new coilover setup FLT-A1US. On their website they list the incorrect part number for the B14. It should read B14FLTA1.
http://www.jic-magic.com/Library/sus...a1susp_app.htm

Here is a letter I received from JIC-magic USA

Darth,

I'm sorry about that, but that is a typo. The right
part number would be B14FLTA1. For your questions,
here are the answers:

1. Since FLTA1US is a new product line, I haven't get
a chance to see and compare the length of the damper
with the stock one. It should be about the same as
stock, but it shouldn't matter since you can change
the length of the dampers by moving the lower bracket
up or down.

2. It comes with 5 dampening adjustment.

3. As far for the camber plates, FLTA1US does come
with camber plate adjustable on McPhearson strut type suspension system.

4. The similarity between FLTA1US and FLTA2 is where
you can lower the car from the lower bracket without compromising the suspension travel.

I hope this answers your questions, let me know if you
have any other question.

Regards,

Ben
JIC USA

I'm seriously considering this setup and have already been told by my local authorized dealer that by placing an order now they would be delivered in early december. These units are less expensive than the TEIN SS and JIC SF-1's.
As I get more information I will post it.

The msrp is listed as $1100. I was quoted $950 + $50 shipping which would come to $1000. Because I'm local I would also have to pay sales tax (maybe). Mind you I'm already a customer of theirs but I'll try to get more info asap.

I am very interested in this. I was going to buy Tein SS's but this sounds better. Have they built them yet? Does anyone have a link to pictures of these units? The website only show applications.

I'm trying now to source some images. The company I'm dealing with is an authorized JIC dealer and tells me orders are being taken now with the first product arriving in early December. I will continue to post any additional info I get.

Am I reading this right. You won't lose any suspension travel with this set-up?

Is this set-up so new that no one can really vouch for it based on experience? Before I blow $1100 bucks on my suspension I want to know that I'm getting a quality product. In my opinion the Tein SS is a proven set-up with plenty of people to vouch for its quality and durability. Can anyone do the same for the JIC as a company? I'm purchasing one or the other before Christmas so I truly want to know all that there is to know about all of the options out there.

Yeah well the rebound and compression are not seperate adjustments on the Tein's so that's not a distinguishable difference. They have a new web page up with the setup now: http://www.jic-magic.com/productsjic_susp_flta1us.htm

What's really cool is that they come standard with pillowball uppper mount and are camber adjustable.

Does JIC have a reputation comparable to teins? I ask because there are those companies that you know will only put out a truly quality product. If JIC is one such company, then the "risk" is pretty minimal.

Seeing that I get to drive a ton of B14's and B15's when bending beams I have gotten to sample a lot of suspension options. The JIC's on the B15 that I drove (I helped install and set them up properly) were very impressive. It was adjustable for height in two manners and had a ton of rebound adjustment. It felt real smooth. I would love to have that on my car. I would even give up my Koni's for that. I like the TEINS but they are not as smooth as the Koni and JIC options. I have heard a couple people complain about some issues with the JIC's. Not many but it has come up. I would spend 1k to get the 5 way adjustable JIC's if they were the same setup as the ones I worked on. JIC is a very well know suspension maker. SCC used them on the s13 that Dave Coleman built. It is not a new product as much as its a new application that they are serving.

OK what 98sr20ve said ^^^. It was in reference to B15's, but seeing he has experience with both, and he is very knowledgable about suspensions, Ill take his word for it.

I just looked at the link. If those are the dampers you get in the pic then all you loose is the mega adjustable option. WOW. I will likely get these since my Koni's are getting real tired up front after 100K of driving. Do they come with the pillow ball mounts at that price. If not I wonder if my GC camber caster plates will work. I really like them.

Hey Steve, how's it going? Yep they come with the camber plates. I'm just about as excited as you are about these. I bet the GC plates won't work with them as Mike told me they don't with Tein's. BUT he did say Shigspeed is making an adapter for the GC plates to fit the Tein's. If the GC plates won't work with the JIC's perhaps he will make an adapter for that as well.

I also noticed Dave Coleman was running them. Did you see that pic of his Silvia on the track in the new Jan issue with the two tires off the ground?!?
