Higher Watt Fog Bulbs question

On my 95 se-r what is the highest bulb i can put in the fog lights safely. The 35 watts just arent cutting it. Can i put 50's or 100's. How sturdy are the wiring harnesses. Would anythign melt? I would be putting in just standard h3's, nothing special. Thanks

The stock wattage is 55 watt for the foglight bulbs. They do make 35 watt H3 bulbs, but that is not what is spec'd for the B14. Do not exceed 55 watts though, the 100 watt bulbs will melt the wiring harness.

The beam pattern on the stock foglights isn't very good. No bulb will get them to put much light on the road. If your looking for a real upgrade, invest in a set of aftermarket driving/fog lights.

Yup I did this on mine. My wiring harness melted on both my head lights, and my fog lights. Damn blue head lights that I just had to have when I bought my car. I ended up getting new wiring harnesses from the nissan dealership, and I had to re-wire it.

1. according to my owners manual the oem fog light on a b14 is 35 watts, not 55 watts. it's an h3 special. with slight modification http://www.se-r.net/electrical/bright_lights.html you can install a regular 55 watt h3 bulb. the difference in light output is significant, but not dramatic, and will not melt your wiring. i performed this and the foglight rewire mod to my b14 a couple yrs ago.
2. i agree with looking @ aftermarket lights.

From my experience 70w. is about the highest you can go w/o melting the stock foglight casing.

I run 55w bulbs with no modifications to anything, and they have worked fine for years.

Stock wattage: 35 watts
Maximum wattage: 55 watts

I am running PIAA 55watts for 6months without any issues. I also have the foglight mod done so they are on most of the time

yeah i put 100w in my fog lights they are much brighter they havent burned up my harnesses at all, one problem they blow every 2 months or so, but thats ok because bulbs come with warranty from autozone so its like lifetime bulbs
