Prothane motor mount inserts

I put in the front and rear crossmember MM inserts from Prothane last week. The engine barely moves now and shifting seems easier... hopefully it will kill the wheel hop at the track too. Anyway, over the past few days the front end started rattling bad at idle to the point where I could almost hear it in the car over my radio. I took out each corner light and drilled two holes in the triangle pieces of the bumper cover right under where the corner lights sit and ran two thick wire ties on each side up through the hole where the wiring harness goes for the corner lights. This pulled the bumper cover up snug and there is no more rattle at all now. Just thought I'd share.

Chris

Sounds good man. Nothing quite like an inexpensive solution to a problem. I may have to steal that one cause my front tends to sag every now and again. I also have the same mounts as you and am dying to get these in. Who pressed them in for you and how much did they charge?

When I put prothanes in my neon all I used was a c-clamp and a pair of vice grips(extra leverage). As far as wheel hop it has been nearly eliminated. They arent too bad until you go above like 4k, but I felt better throttle response aswell

I didn't have anyone press them in. I used a floor jack positioned under a steel shelving thing... if there is a next time, I won't do it like this again! But yeah, they make a big diff and the vibration isn't that bad at all.

I just did mine yesterday. I go to college, so I am tight on $, so I didnt want to pay to get them pressed in, or out. What I did was after I burned out the mounts, I took a flathead and hammer to bend the ring out a little, then a chisel and hammer to cut the ring. Then I used another, bigger flat head to pop the fing out. Then to press the mounts in, I got a can white lithium spray grease and sprayed all over the inside of the mount, and the one side of the prothane. jacked my car up, put the mount under, and had someone lower the tire VERY slowly as I held the mount on centered(so it doesnt pop off). Once it was centered and tight, I got my hands out, and lowered the car almost all the way, and the mount popped right in! easy as hell!! Ghetto, but cheap and easy! I'm installing them in my car tomorrow prolly. I just put these in an extra set.
