Yeah... at RA, you better make sure you brakes are beefy. Being able to hit 150mph is fun, not being able to stop at the end of the straight would really really suck.
Re: video. Champ car had the best safety crew around. They were there within 30 seconds i'd say. F1, heck, every racing series could learn something. Hopefully they all migrated over to IRL.

Hopefully I (some of the Cali guys that attended Vegas) should be able to attend 2010 seeing since theres a larger time frame to save up for RA. This was also a factor for me not attending 2009, yeah I know.
1280-something from the Daytona Area, plus I usually have to work on Memorial Day weekend. Have a good time.
I agree that the Champ Car safety crew was second to none in road racing and ovals. Rivaled NHRA Safety Safari, and they had the advantage of always knowing where the wreck was going to be and that there were no more cars coming around the corner.
Everyone who has been to Road America talks about taking that corner, "the kink", flat but be very careful as you are going fast there with a long straight to follow.

Reason: spelling
FYI, I didn't realize this thread hadn't been updated, but the convention has been moved and no longer will be at Road America. It's going to be based in Omaha, NE and Mid-America Motorplex is the track. Dates also have been changed to June 4th-6th.
It's not live yet, but I plan on making it live by the end of the week, the website for the convention is www.nissanconvention.com
It says under construction right now but I'm working on getting all the info up this week. I'm also finalizing hotel details this week.
Long story short, Road America tried to charge us double what they initially quoted, and they were starting to become a pain to deal with, so we looked for an alternate track that is in the same region of the country. We have the entire complex rented out for all 3 days this year, so we will have one day as a track day, one as a drift day, and the picnic and car show will also be at the MAM on Sunday as well. We also have a drag strip one night as well as a rally cross course.
Yes, definitely Omaha. Track has already been secured and there is just a few tweaks to the hotel contract before I sign it, but that's 99% set up too. But the track is 100% confirmed and locked in.
What's this I see about NICO taking over Convention operation? Or, tell me to "search, n00b" which I'll do as long as you give me a hint.
Well yes, but before you jump on the "I'm and old fart from the early mailing list days and don't want to see NICO take anything over" bandwagon, let me condense a year of criticism down to a paragraph explanation:
Think of it like I am heading up the '10 convention, but using my affiliation with NICO as a backing to get more people to the event. Also, we're opening up the invitation to all Nissan owners not just SE-R people. The SE-R community just isn't what it used to be, so in order to keep the convention alive, we're restructuring it as an event for all Nissan enthusiasts. Same format as always, track day Friday, car show Sunday, ES hotel, etc. We're just adding a couple events to the list (i.e. drifting on Saturday, rally cross all weekend) in order to appeal to a larger audience. If all goes well, I plan to continue to keep NICO involved for the years to come.
There was a bit of discussion about it if you look back at the mailing list archives around early May of this year. There is also a thread on the dash about it somewhere.
Okay, I done searched. I'm on page 11 of "the dash's" discussion. If I still have my job, I'll be there. Can't say if it'll be in the SE-R, Miata or Viper.

Awesome, it'll be good to see you again. It's been a few years!
