I am willing to bet he is going to have a 26 or 28 inch slick and besides when you start getting power and a set up like that gear ratio is different then you might think gearing depends on what RPM he is going too, what he wants to trap at different points in the 1/4, his power band and other things like tire size and much more. true a 6 speed might not be what I would use but he seems to know what he is doing so I am sure after he tests a bit other tranny options are going to up in the air for him remember the class he is going into traps in the 180mph ( to be competitive )
So the rule of thumb that so many think is right is not always the case
