Because this is stronger as well as absorbs more impact energy. Making a big wall of NASCAR bars doesn't do too much for rigidity and isn't as strong as an X-brace. The "crash attenuator" as Kojima coined it puts the initital impact farther out, as well as give you some crumple space before it hits the X. Once it hits the X, the car, in all likelihood, will just bounce away from the impact instead.

I don't think he posted his spring rates meng. Those aren't Pro-kits in there, that's for sure.
If I had to guess, since he's Kojima's neighbor, he's probably running 600F/650R if the rear strut ears are longer, otherwise 500 or 550 rear rates...
