I am an installer by trade & I can tell from seeing many cars with that type of "security" as well as razor blades on the back to the never popular S.D.M. (smoke defence machine which I think my shop has the remains of one still) that when they cant get what they came for they will take revenge on ANYTHING else in or outside of the car!! One guy about 5 yrs ago had a radio that cost $400 & he put a strap on the back & soldered thumbtacks to the back & bottom of the radio (bottom of the radio was in a pocket which could be popped out) & he thought it was safe. Well, within 6 months they tried to get it & when he returned, the radio was there...sort of... the theif took his own lug wrench & punched it through the radio!!! As well as his instrument cluster, his heat/ac controls dashboard, windsheild (drivers window was how they got inside in the first place) as well as blood all over! All they got away with was about 10 cd's & his insurance card! In the end last we heard he had $1900.00 + damage all for a $400.00 radio! & the last insult??/ they left a note saying "nevermind you can keep your radio" SO MY ADVICE IS TO MAKE THE AFTERMARKET RADIO RECESSED AS POSSIBILE & MAKE A FAKE CHEAP RADIO COVER IT!! you can do this by buying the cheapest ugilest radio you can get cut off the front glue on the knobs & or buttons & use a thin piece of plastic or cardboard to go in the cd/tape slot to hide your investment & hide ANYTHING that make them think differently IE: remote for radio cd's ect. this is my best advice to you!!.....good luck all!!!
