No. Current plan is to keep the SMIC and stock radiator until I can go V-mount.

Great. Now that Gaysey has a working V-mount, every one will be a "copycat."

I wouldn't copy that guy's v-mount setup though. Too much piping still. Plus not enough shrouding.

thats about the same amount of piping as my fmic. my fmic sits in front of the radiator and the only fmic ive seen that doesnt use as much piping was mounted right behind the radiator...

I agree that it could be done with a little less piping and maybe different ducting, but it's still nice. IMO Casey did pretty well for an amateur!

See like, Signal did their piping like this, and it has much shorter piping, and looks much cleaner:

Start off with a Spearco or Hybrid core and make custom end tanks FTW

Definitely take pics of the V mount setup as you go.

Or, have you considered the setup that Enjuku went with on their silver car?

Yeah, Casey's is only half done in that pic, he's got major ducting on it now, and he said that he didn't really do it for response, but for cooling. Says the IC and rad stay pretty much cold after a some hot laps at all the tracks he races at!!

I'm sure you'll document your V-mount buildup well, you've done a great job so far!

I was leaning toward Spearco, and they would definitely have to be custom end tanks to get the angle I want.

Thanks, I will most certainly take pictures. Not doing so at this point would just be stupid considering how many I've already taken, and the lengths I've gone to for project documentation.

"Old" brake line, "new" one, and tubing bender:

If you’ll recall, I bent the old one with a couple of combination wrenches while laying underneath the car and it ended up leaking. I got another one from a friend and purchased a tubing bender from Advance Auto Parts for $6.

Clutch line bracket:

A friend pointed this out as a weight savings opportunity when he was doing my wiring, and I decided to go ahead and do it before everything came together.

Line bent, bracket chopped, and bolt heads wire-brushed:

SMIC chassis bracket:

Courtesy of DriftItLow on 240sxForums.

Stock fusebox bracket:

Also courtesy of a friend. I wanted this bracket to better secure the coolant reservoir.

Cutting off the one little piece I need:

After this, I beadblasted this piece and the SMIC bracket, then sprayed two coats of the gloss black epoxy appliance paint that you’ve seen earlier in the thread.

New hardware and pads:

Stripping the SMIC down for cleaning and testing:

After one of my friends took it upon himself to beadblast the SMIC, I decided I wanted to forego any (even slight) chance of getting glass beads in the engine. Add this to the fact that I’d like to have it both pressure/flow tested and cleaned, and it only makes sense to go ahead and do it.

the piping wasnt an issue i was worried about, its still shorter than the regular FMIC kit by about 3'.

and my "shrouding" wasnt doen in that pic yet...this is how the ducting looks about 2 weeks after that pic was takin.

andy saw mysetup at VIR, and thats when i got to test it fully, but without gauges, worked like a champ, codl IC, cold rad temps with a smaller rad than the standard Koyo.
