Can you fab something up to protect the back of the IC from road debris? Or is there a slitting in the fender liner so you can still get adequate airflow through the IC?

DP bolted up with gasket:
Has anyone found this gasket locally? As in not through Phase2, Enjuku, etc.? I looked a half a dozen places for one including muffler shops and NAPA, and no one had anything.
I've been following this thread for about 6 months now, and I have to say that without it, I'd be S.O.L.! Thanks for taking the time to document every step of the build, as it has been my "what the hell do I do here" bible for my current S13 build-up. I know it's been said before, but it's definately worth saying again, Excellent job and Thanks!!!
Stainless line installed:
The line is installed at a weird angle to get it to run between the two tabs. Do I have this right? I suppose it'll be a little less funky-looking when the suspension compresses.
SMIC through the duct:
Bumper support in place:
I thought about painting it, but at this point I really just need to finish the car. :thumbsup
Bumper foam in place:
Bumper cover (mostly) installed:
All of the fasteners aren't in place yet, but will be once everything's lined up.

Sorry I never answered this question...
No, I don't plan on doing anything at this point. The fender liner had slits, interestingly enough, but my plan was never to keep them. I have to wonder how much road debris I'd get autocrossing (for the next year or so) or roadracing (after that). I would imagine by the time I'm serious about roadracing though, the SMIC will no longer exist.

I lucked out and got it with the third SMIC. I heard they existed, but had never seen one. I guess this is because people hardly ever get complete clips, and when they do, the duct is probably lost when the body panels are removed. Either way, I'm very happy with it.
I am undecided on the grille. On one hand it could potentially protect the SMIC from large debris. On the other hand, will I really see much in autocross? (see above) I thought about running some hardcore screen material instead, but this would probably restrict airflow almost as much as the grille, not to mention being more effort to implement. If I end up using the grille, I'll probably paint both black (they're faded now) and reinstall the one on the other side. If I don't, I might make a blocking plate with the same aluminum sheeting I used to block the wiring harness hole in the driver's side wheel well.
The higher two holes (where the signals used to be) will likely be used to duct air to the brakes, although I have not yet explored the logistics.

At this point I'm stuck between this option (are these not hard to find since everyone wants them???) and simply doing a "Home Depot Special" or other such homemade option.

They have a solid squad this year, and deserve the win. After watching games 5 and 6 though, I was very worried they'd blow Game 7. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they regained their spirit.

I just found this thread, read it all, and currently am in the process of cleaning up the fappage, especially with that trick VC.
I was looking at a blown/abused s13 this morning musing to myself about making it a track slut, this thread just sealed the deal. Actually, theres a sohc and a doch s13s out there, this really makes me wanna grab em both up.
Sorry guys...I had to travel this weekend for a wedding. Here's an update:
All front end body parts reinstalled:
Finally found and installed brake boots:
Pouring water wetter into distilled water:
I plan to run this instead of the traditional coolant/water mixture as it cools more efficiently and won't leave any slippery surfaces if the coolant system takes a crap.
Holes cut for hood pins:
The carnage inflicted on the underside:
Peekabo:
Hood pins installed:
I was given the APC "Sparco-style" hood pins and am (not surprisingly) dissatisfied with the quality. I was also unable to accomplish a quality installation based on the aforementioned and my inexperience with them. After talking to some other racers and giving it plenty of thought, I decided on the AeroCatch mechanisms. Stay tuned for more on this...
Door gutting:
New clutch slave cylinder:
Keeping the flush bottle from falling over:
I tried this since I'ev had the bottle to get knocked over before, spilling brake fluid all over the floor. Also, it would soak up any dripping fluid since the stuff in the pan is Oil-Dry. The only difficulty is that I had a hard time seeing the level in the bottle, and looking for bubbles, but this was easily solved.
Hatch installed:
