If you'd stuck w/ OE panels it wouldn't look like an Auto-x/track car
True, I'm all about the Race-Bling!
UPDATE: Got the gauge wiring figured out, but left the water temp gauge out until I get the other water neck and have a bung welded on. THen I'll blast and clearcoat it like the first one and reinstall along with the gauge itself. I started on a gauge plate for the radio place (? I guess, I haven't had anything in there for too long), and am stuck b/c I'm unsure about how to do nice circular holes. I have a Dremel with a circle cutting attachment, but I don't think I have the correct bit.
Also met with the exhaust guy today. To do a (mostly) straight pipe with a 90* downturn just before the diff, it'll be around $225. If I have the 90* rotated to point to the driver's side of the car and exit after an oval transition, it'll be $400. He actually brought this up because he said a downturn like we first talked about would cause a lot of reverberation in the cabin like I currently have. This may not be a problem for autocross since it's quick, but track use will give me a headache I think. I am unsure about whether or not the helmet will keep this from happening or not. Ideas?

i was just thinkin organization and tidy keeps from problems later... besides i dont like clutter right in front of me...
Gotcha. I may move the gauges later, but wanted to keep these two as close to my view of the track as possible. So far it's working wonderfully and without glare.
A friend's wheels (same as mine) with 245/45 Hankook Z212's:

Cleaning up the nastiness a little:
Be warned, these things aren't paint-safe. In my case, I just need to get some of the grime off, and don't much care if the paint gets its feelings hurt.
I like how you did your exhaust hanger points... I might have to go back and redo mine...
Here's what $80 with the local muffler guy got me... I brought in all the parts, he did the one bend and all the welding.
Yeah I like how he did it too. A little stiffer than I would've thought to do, but I guess it doesn't matter since I have some play in the DP:trans mount.
Damn, $80 isn't bad. How much did you pay in materials and what kind of metal is that?
Andy - where did you pick up the K1 wheels? I've been thinking about getting a wider pair for the rear of my car, but they don't seem to be available in the custom sizes they used to be...

It's been about 1.5 years since I did this, so I don't remember all my prices. Basically I took in my HS 3" DP, a 3" resonator (Summit Racing, roughly $35), 3" Catco cat (Ebay, $60), and five 3-bolt flanges (JC Whitney, $15) to my welder guy. He cut the end of the HS DP where it necks down to 2.5" and added a flange there, made a test pipe for me and flanged the Catco cat so they can be swapped out. He took a piece of their 3" aluminized steel pipe, did a 90 degree bend and the neck down on the exit and added the hanger. Not bad for the price, and he allowed me to be there while he did it to nit-pick stuff .

TireRack. I found out about the sale from a friend, but cannot remember how he found out. They were $99/each, but they only had 4-5 sets left when I called. I ended up having to convince the guy they had them after he told me they didn't, and had a little bit of difficulty since they don't normally sell that size for 240SX's. I think they keep blanks too and have them drilled to order, which is awesome for obstinant/thrifty folks like me who still run 4-lug.
I will eventually give up the ghost and go 5-lug, and can probably sell them for what I paid when the time comes.

Yeah, sounds good. I willingly chose 304SS knowing it'd be more, but could have gone with the aluminized steel.
That's interesting, the last info I had was that they weren't custom-boring them any more. I bought mine a couple years ago, right when they seemed to dry up, and mine were used (private sale). When did you get yours?
