Looking good, can't wait to see some more progress on the canton oil filter and oil cooler. What's funny is that I just purchased a BMC heat shield that looks almost identical to the one that you got
I am using this offseason to fab up all the oil cooler stuff. I have most of everything except the lines that will need to be made once I final-mount the canister and block adapter. I have hi-temp silicone ducting (so I can use some of it for brakes later), some NACA ducts, and a 4'x8', 0.080" sheet of Alloy 5052.
He has more of these brake shields and might be interested in selling them. I was originally thinking aluminum and thinner material, but the SS one is kinda nice. Beefy too.

Didn't post it yet. I finally uploaded some pictures from the October 21/22 CarGuys event @ VIR-Full, and will post them later today or tomorrow.
IIRC, max was 220°F oil and 180°F water. Coolant factors: stock turbo @ stock power, stock SR radiator, GReddy radiator cap, new OE water pump, Nismo thermostat, and distilled water with a bottle of Water Wetter. I forget what the ambient temperature was, but it couldn't have been much over 70°F.
I would like to see the oil temp closer to 180°F, but am not freaking out about where it is. More power and hotter days will definitely increase this number, and as it stands I don't feel comfortable having it go too much higher.
Nice to see a M3 in the garage, is that yours? You have great taste in cars.
Yes, it's mine. Why, you wanna buy it? I have been thinking that I could sell it, buy a $5k-ish Accord, and have enough to do a turnkey LS1 swap for the 240.
Thanks. There are actually a few of us with the same DD/TrackBish combo.

Yeah, some special edition or something. Car did reasonably well to be as heavy as it is.
Actually, yeah, I am interested in your M3. I am currently in the market for a M3 or 540i sport w/ six speed. If you are interested in selling it, could you send me a PM regarding the condition, miles on car and motor, and its current mods and maintenance history. I used to have M3/4 door sedan so I am aware of the maintenance these cars require to stay in good condition. It looks good in the pics from what I can see, let me know. Thanks.
your running my tires!!! How did you like them on the track?
I assume you know that they're Hankook Ventus Z212's? They were awesome for a beginner, meaning that I am not yet good enough to skillfully push their limit. I let my instructor drive my car for the June event, and he thought there was plenty of grip. Which is cool, considering he's used to R-comps on his car. My opinion is that I made a wise decision settling on 245/45-16's instead of trying to put a 195-width tire on a stock wheel. It may not make that much difference, but 50mm (almost 2") more width can't hurt.
My plan is to stick with these for awhile, and probably use another set if I don't find any problems with them. Hopefully by the time I've been through 2 sets, I'll be ready for r-comps.

We are doing the 2008 budget soon, and I will know more after that concludes. What's your timetable?

Well, my wife says my timetable is AFTER I sell my G20 which is almost finished. I would guesstimate between February and April I will be in the market for a M3 or 540, especially if I can find a buyer for my NX, which shouldn't be to difficult giving the good shape its in. Take your time and keep me in mind.
WOW the return of the dinasaur.
This is an amazing work done by very few of billion.
We should give a salute to those who make thing happen.
Well done well done
My steering wheel installation write-up from another board...
Stock steering wheel, begging to be replaced:
I put the steering wheel / front wheels straight, and locked it by removing the key.
Cover off:
I used a flathead screwdriver and it came off easily. I then disconnected the horn button. I used a 19mm socket to remove the steering wheel nut. The wheel came off by holding it on either side, and using a front-to-back wiggling method until I was able to break it loose.
HICAS steering angle sensor:
Removed the 4 screws on the corners and pulled off:
Removed parts:
Ready for hub installation:
New parts. Momo hub and Tekniq "Race" quick release:
Wheel was used on eBay. The suede is a little rough, but I knew that going in and didn’t mind. The hub and QR were purchased from CDOC. Price on the QR was cheaper than through Tekniq USA, and shipping was very quick.
Hub installed:
The Momo hub had an up arrow with "Top" written on it, but I found this didn’t quite put the wheel on correctly. As a reference, I used the 6 holes and pointed the one closest "Top" directly upward. I have yet to drive the car, but it looks straight after putting the wheel on. I also noticed that the hub bottomed out on the shaft before the two tabs engaged anything, but this shouldn’t be an issue as I think they’re mainly for shutting the turn signal off. For the wheel nut, the FSM says 22 – 29 ft-lbs. I went 30.
