S14 and S14.5 front ends, are they interchangable?

Hi guys, I'm new to the scene. I'd really love to own an S14.5 (97-98 front end, correct?), however, given their rarity, they're a tough find (especially around these parts)

Is it possible to buy an S14 and swap on the more aggressive S14.5/97-98 fenders/hood/front?

Just curious.

Also, are there any differences between the two bodies? They look like they have the same body work from the doors back (except the slightly diff tail lights) and the interiors look the same.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, they are interchangeable, but FYI "S14.5" is usually used to denote an S14 with S15 front. If you want to talk about the 97-98 S14, some folks say S14b, some use that stupid "kouki/chuki" terminology, whatever the hell they mean.

And I agree with Matt - the rounded front of the S14a goes much better with the rear, which they didn't change for 97-98.

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification Rittmeister. I like the look of the 95/96...it's just too plain looking to me though. I originally fell in love with that front, then found out about hte 97/98 front later on and instantly liked it. Thanks for the help!

Actually, its zenki S14b (95/96), kouki S14a (97/98)....chuki is a term used for 91-94 s13's...blah blah, welcome to the scene, blah blah...etc. etc.

Why would you call the earlier one the S14b and the later version the S14a? That's counter-intuitive.

lol...cause thats how it is, ive been on zilvia and freshalloy for over 3 years now...and i have no life...so ive been reading this sh*t for years now, s14(before), s14(after) for s13's the 89-90 is zenki, 91-94 chuki and the last release of the 180sx in japan is kouki.

just retarded terminalogy, but, its the correct information, and i hate to see misinformation.

That's REALLY STUPID. If you're going to use "a" and "b" why not use them sequentially?!? No offense to the drifters but that's another example of the foolishness of drift culture.

OTOH if we didn't have drifters I wouldn't be able to get good engine stuff and all the lovely parts for my suspension...

Well, a while back we had the same argument in my area... We finally just dubbed the camry (it is funny how much the camry and the s14 look alike) faced ones Smiley Eyed Hippos and the other ones Shark Eyes.

Nah dude, it is the light bracket thing. You don't have to do anything that does not involve a 10mm socket and an extension or a 12mm for the hood.
