Brake Upgrade

Whats Up People? I know it has been awhile. I was in Thailand for 64 days didnt bring anything back but a New Tattoo (My sons Kanji on my chest over my heart), then came home and picked the family up in Hiroshima for a few days of Leave. I am now back in Okinawa and it is good to be home. Car started fine, only problem is when I went to drive off, the rear brake pads were stuck to the rotors from all the rain and sitting so long. I tried to "drive" them clean but it didnt work. So I needed new brake rotors and pads for the rear so I decided it would be a good time to upgrade. I got the Dixcel Advanced Brake Technology Slotted Rotors and Project U D1 Spec pads. Anyway here is a pic I just took of the new stuff, I will throw up a few pics during the install as usual, no writeup though since it is easy stuff...oh yeah coming up is a Defi 3 Guage Din Pod and Tomei 256 Cams install.

Shoulda went with like a Z32 or GT-R brake upgrade man!

That non vented rear brake BS is gonna catch up on your quick. And I heard those D1 pads wear pretty quickly as well.

Yeah the pads wear quick but are great for gymkhana which is why I bought them...gymkhanna is like autox on crack and requires alot of ebrake sliding for turns...we will see, I know guys with these brakes and they like them..

i have 180sx front rotors and calipers, and I feel the pedal feel is much better than a Q45 setup. It also pulls a car down really quick.

I know what gymkhana is, and that's why I said the stock rear brakes may not be good enough, as it's not even vented, thus retains its heat, especially when you're gonna be pulling the e-brake to get the rear to slide on a certain sections.

The Z32 e-brake setup is better for heat dissipation IMO, thus why I would go for Z32 brakes for gymkhana duties.

But yeah, try it out and let us know how it's working out for you

Well did the install this morning. You can see in this pic how bad the rotor was, big @ss chunk of pad still stuck to hit, only about half the surface was being used. Both sides of the right rear rotor were like this:

Here is a pic of the pad, you can see the chunk that broke off:

Here is a final PIC after Install. They work Great!!!

In that last pic, at first it appears your 180 has leaf springs in the rear. The lift arm gives that impression, lol.

Brakes look good. Go out and abuse them at will.

I just picked up a URAS 180SX chassis rail brace and fixed that problem we talked about. Nice rotors!

Peace,

Vince

Man you would be suprised how many PM's I get asking that. The deal is I was at a local speed shop and they were in the junk pile. They were Blue and full of road rash.. I asked the guy how much and he gave them to me free, I then took them to this body shop guy and for under 100 bucks he repaired them. made the lines smooth and painted them to match. The problem is, I have no clue what brand they are
