i went to my buddy's shop touge factory in northbrook.
pull up and see the usual.
s13 with s15 front end, silvia's, 350z, sti's....and a yellow R34 skyline.
not GT-R it a GT-S.
its fully us legal.
35k for the car imported and regisered. the car has full suspension.
bbs moda wheels.
frontmount, exhaust.
very nice.
he went to the nissan dealer in libertyville and they changed the oil and full wash and detail fro free. they serviced another R34 before from the 2fast2furious movie.
lesson learned: get a unique car and receive free oil changes.
there is no way i would let anyone but myself change my oil.. especially in something like a skyline. I find it realllllly hard to believe it was only $35k, i actually dont believe it at all. That doesnt happen.
He said in his previous post it is a GTS. GTS's are not as expensive as GTR's for obvious reasons.
The US legal part is impossible though. I guarantee you it is not 50 state legal. If he gets caught with it, they can crush the car instantly. There is no known way to get ANY R34 skyline registered 50 state legal reguardless if it is a GTR or not.

This guy was at streets of woodfield last week on saturday ngiht. The turnout ther was actualy very ver ygood with a lot of nice tuner cars that were far from stock. The r34 was legalized by turbovisions and there is a Turbovisions sticker acrsso the front windshield.
That guy works at touge factory or owns that shop?
btw, he told me he pays 300 every 6 months for full coverage.

There is a local guy around Memphis that has 2 skylines.. Both are legal... He says it costs 20k to get it legalized and imported and all that jazz.. He has an r34 (not sure whether its a gtr or gts) and an r32 gts-t (which is for sale).. Its not that hard to get them legalized if you have enough money..
its also easier to have a place of residence in places such as florida where they dont have emissions inspections. Thats how a few people i know who have skylines get away with it. One of my friends has an R33, and he bought his off of a guy in florida when he was down there for vacation. It runs around with florida plates, and the only thing he has to keep up on is the registration.
Like I said in my previous post. Its not 50 state legal (fed legal.) They may have found a way in their state to register them, yes. But there are many technicalities behind it that are not legal that I cant remember and dont know about.
Head over to freshalloy.com and in the GTR section there are guys much smarter than I am that can tell you exactly why. Alot of them in that section are here in the US of A, and have the money to import one, but dont because they dont want to have thier cars crushed.
Motorex was the only legit company up until Hiro (??) did something stupid and got put in the Pen.
See, this is where I come in and say that, 50-state legal is only important if you plan on taking the car around to all 48 states within the continental US.
If you can legally register and drive your car within the state you're currently residing in, then who cares?
Legalized Skylines = Only MOTOREX
MOTOREX = No more
Non MOTOREX Skylines on the streets = hook up at the DMV
Because of what MOTOREX did, the Feds are on the look out. Hell, even eBay wouldn't touch a Skyline
Get caught = 3,500 pounds of crushed JDM metal and a heavy fine!

Well... if the car is soooo illegal to drive on the street, it WOULD be impossible to get them titled. BUT you can get them titled. and if you can get them titled you can get registration and plates...
I dont understand, if a car would be soo illegal to drive, how are you getting plates and registration.
actually his insurance is 304 dollras every 6 months.
he took the car to florida two weeks ago on a trailer and had it registered and then came back with it to chicago. hes been driving it for a week already. he got pulled over for not having a license plate on the car. the cop let him go *** all the other papers were legit.
go on zilvia or fresh alloy and search gurnee, illinois+r34 skyline. the guy who owns it is john.
he also imported a black s15 silvia. same way. he trailored both cars to florida.

well u better believe it. it was 35k for everything. to buy it, import it, and legalize it.
insurance is cheap because the car is not in the database and therefore the insurance goes by the selleing price of the car to determine the rate. thats how he has full coverage, up to the value of the car, for 304 dollars every 6 months
Im not saying it cant be registered. There is always ways around that, kind of like you said, trailering it to another state.
However, if I ever did want to go somewhere to a meet or something and wanted to drive it the whole way there, I would want to be legal if I was leaving the state I lived in. I travel a little bit and just having that option would be why I want to keep it 50 state legal.
If you never take it out of the state, by all means, go ahead and just get it legalized in your state. No biggie. I just dont like being limited in any way. I have enough of a challenge with athority as it is
