Widest tires on stock rims?

i'm in the market for some new tires and was wondering what's the widest tire that will fit on the s13 240 wheel (the ugly ones w/a bunch of spokes). i'm trying to keep away from buying rims as i'm going for the "i swear it's stock" look. i found someone running a 205, but is that the widest?! i hope not. thanks for the help

If you want a bubbly tire for straight line traction then yeah, anything bigger than a 205 would be good.

If you want a tire that's square on the rim, then a 195 would be the max.

I would generally say a 205/55/15 or a 205/60/15 would be good for a compromise between handling and straight line traction.

doluck - what kinda deals can you get?

i was thinking about the Kumho Ecsta ASX's. they've got really good reviews and fit my tight budget pretty nicely.

Yeah, HICAS equipped S13's came with 205 width tires, and it seems every other s13 came with 195s.

Ok so let me play sales man for a sec.

1- What size are you going to get 205/60-15 is going to be your better deal for fit and cauze they will be cheaper than going wider.

2- Where do you live, the weather plays a big deal in the kinda tire you should use.

3- How hard are you on your tires. The ASX I see them last about 12-18k miles with hard driving. This is because they are not made to drive hard as other tires, so when you get them hot the start wearing super fast.

4- how much do you want to spend? 205/60/15 ASX run about $50 a tire
for about $10 you can step up to some much better tire!

A good way to do tire research is to use Tirerack.com They do more research on the tires then most of the manufacturer.

I run the BFG G Force Sport They are Super sticky and they only cost about $60 I love them and I have used alot of tires!

SoSideways- I can't sell to the public, Just point you in the right direction if you were in Florida.

i'm in SC and Kumho is running a special where they give you 40 bucks back if you buy 4...so that's basically a free tire. i drive my car pretty lightly, getting into it every now and then. it'll see no track time except a few dragstrip runs...no drifting or auto-x. i was looking at the g force, but the 40 bucks back kinda helps the decision.

Get the Kumho then. You don't drive hard so they will do every thing you need them to do, and they are cheaper. get them in a 205/60-15
