High RPM problem

Hey guys,

I have a bone stock 89 240sx and I'm having a problem with the KA24E engine.

It will not go past 5,000rpm! It seems like it's hitting the rev limiter or something.

I've tried swapping in different distributors and ecu's from other cars but it keeps doing the same thing. I've checked most of the wiring under the hood and everything seems to be okay.

Has anybody had this problem?

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

Haha. I don't think it's a problem. The car falls flat on it's face after 5,000 anyway .

But seriously, are you sure it's firing on all 4? when i was running on 3 it would stop at like 5 in neutral. Also, It could be that your secondary butterflies aren't opening

Um, no. Where are you getting that info?

May be a MAF problem, and as Seikenman said it might not be running on all cylinders. Does it "chug?"

Killing the clutch? A dohc does nice up to 6000, a sohc tends to fall off at 5000......Killing the clutch...oh man...better warn the VE people not to rev past 4500

I had to change the wiring to the maf sensor because somebody did a bad job putting it all together. Anyway, I replaced the maf sensor along with the wiring and it did the same thing. I'm sure it's running on all 4 because I unplugged the plug wires individually while the car was idling and it all had the same result, misfiring idle. It runs strong until it hits 5k, then it just goes back and forth trying to pass 5k

What's this about secondary butterflies? On the throttle body?
