The big honkin' HICAS question thread - all HICAS questions here

Hi I have a 1991 240SX with abs and Super HICAS and I want to know why when I drive the HICAS Light goes on. The HICAS never goes off except when the car is completely off. Is it bad if I have the HICAS light on? Because when I drive and I start pressing the breaks the whole car shakes until I stop completely. Any comments?

A Google search quickly yielded:
"HICAS (HI Capacity Actively Controlled Suspension).

HICAS works by steering the rear wheels in phase (the same direction) as the front depending on the speed. Nissan literature says : "Steers the rear wheels in phase with the front wheels to enhance the stability of the vehicle during abrupt maneuvers at normal road speeds". SUPER HICAS includes "phase delay" which adds "opposite phase steering at high speed built into the system logic which delays turning the rear wheels to improve vehicle turn-in. This 'phase delay' includes opposite phase steering at high speed" - Super HICAS involves the front as well as the rear in activation.

Urgent HICAS question!!!

Im looking at a 93 240sx hicas. If I get it I plan to get the sr20 swap done and make it a drift car. Is this a good idea?
I heard you cant drift with Hicas.
Does this mean I would have to disable it?
If so how much would that cost?

I heard that the wheels had to stay straight during a drift to do it properly

Should I bypass the HICAS with a HICAS Eliminator Bar? Can I put lowering springs and at the same time keep the HICAS?

Threads merged.

I suggest that both of you go over to some more 240-oriented sites (or even more drift-oriented sites) and do some SEARCHING. The information you seek is readily available.

www.zilvia.net
www.freshalloy.com
www.240sxforums.com

Search, don't ask, on these sites, you will be flamed no end. Have fun.

The big honkin' HICAS question thread

Hey, First time poster here Don't know where to post this.

I am looking to buy a 1993 240SX SE with HICAS. The only problem is that it has 4 wheel steering, and I really don't want it. I've done alot of research around the net, and found out that I can either use a non-HICAS subframe, or use an eliminator bar (ex. Kazama, SPL, Stillen.) Now, my question is that, what is a better buy? An used subframe or a bar? If I do get a bar, do I have to get new Toe rods? What else do I have to remove, any PS lines, steering systems in the rear?

PS: I've also read this http://www.sr20forum.com/240sx/85229-hicas-removal.html
Just making sure.

Thanks,

Arinder

honestly. i think useing a none hicas rear end would be the best bet. even if you use a bar you still have "flimsy" tie rods out back. this is all coming from a person that knows absolutly nothing about 240's *** lol

Suspension in HICAS question?

Hi I have a 1991 240SX equipped with LSD and HICAS and I wanted to know if I lower the the car will the HICAS steering will increase or decrease? Is it true that you also have to buy a camber kit when you lower your car? Any comments?

Threads merged, AGAIN

Please don't start new threads on nearly the same subject. Additionally, if you'd go search the sites above (that I already told you to search) you'd find a lot more info. Us 240 guys are the redheaded stepchildren of this forum, which is FAR more oriented towards FWD SR cars.

I love it. A guy with 39 posts who's been here for less than six months is telling me not to get upset by noobs...

I got annoyed because several different people posted barely different questions in several different threads.

Besides, I'm a moderator, I'm allowed to get moderately annoyed. I merged the threads to keep the clutter down. Anything else?

BTW, I am on my 4th FWD SR car, just for the record; I know them well and enjoy them thoroughly.
