all the ones you're gonna find from OBX, Topspeed, etc.. are ok. They are just alittle bit shorter, but they are not real short shifts. You can spend the $300 and get a B&M or a C's short shift kit from japan ($350). Those are real short shifts. Plus you might have a leaking problem with the OBX, Topspeed, etc.. brands.

A leaking problem? The only problem I have heard about is the fact that they are 2 piece and can come apart. I have also heard of the top portion just spinning freely. I would just stick to the B&M or a C's.

Anyone know if the C's short shifter for the S14 is any different than for the S13? In other words, are they identical?

Yes, the S13 and S14 shifters are the same. Just like the SR20det and the KA24DE's share the same shifters too.

Ok, thanks... that's what I thought, but I just wanted to confirm it. I'm thinking about buying a C's short throw.

If you want to shorten it the ghetto way......

Get a propane torch and melt the rubber that holds upper part of the shifter in place, and then take the black part off. (the part that the shift knob bolts to)

when we did it, it lowered the shifter by about 2" and the Momo knob my neighbor has bolted right on to the lower part of the shifter (the part that goes into the tranny). My neighbor said it was a little wierd at first, but now he loves it.

BTW, we had a spare shifter, so if your affraid to do something permanant to your shifter, then I would not recomend doing this.
