The stock bottom can def handle some boost. For 2 years I been pushin 15 psi daily beatings on a t3/t4 57 trim at 350 whp comletely stock longblock and 20 psi on 109 oct for 420 whp. They can def handle the power, you just gotta have a good tune.

I never had an issue other than my 100km motor leaking from the FMS and the water pump gasket.

I am fully built now but that is because I want 500whp.

Stock bottom end is def good for 400

A DE stock bottom end is good for 400 as well.

The highest HP put down on a dyno with a stock DET bottom end was in the mid 600rwhp mark. Somewhere around 660 or 670rwhp range.

Edit: Yup, just checked, it was 669rwhp. And like 515 ft-lbs of TQ or something like that. At 8000rpm.

So yeah, stock bottom ends are stout, but I doubt that a stock bottom end engine can live in that condition for long if the owner beat on it all the time without proper measure.

hello, My name is Michael owner of an s14a.
Also lloking to do a swap from det to vet or ve and than turbo it , also adding itb
I read somewhere the vet head would not fit , due to size , so it would be swapping an complete vet engine ( and we all know how difficult to find they are)or mounting an ve head? it the second case what ve head would be best to use? from what year, type?
could someone tell me in detail what mods need to be done , I read something about solenoids ? and oil fee,ds? is that all that needs to be done to swap heads?what about the drive by wire
I also saw that there are some differences between vet head and ve head, vet head would only have the intake cam which variable lifts, exhaust stays normal.
is it than smart to turbo an ve head? I imagine it is not turbo friendly? how can it be made turbo friendly?

I also would install the ITB from Ikeya formula or GTI-r ; but i am a little concerned about the air flow , wont it be messed up comparing to the oem sr20det? are all the lenghts the same or a least not worse , better is ok ;-) !

haltech ecu, nismo6 speed box, lsd, kw variante 3 suspensions, cusco chassis upgrades, 350Z brakes, upgraded rear arms ( mazworx) ,forged internals ( here I encountered another isseu (, i seem unable to find a forged crank in 2.0 l stroke. it always is 2.2), gt2871r .63 ar , and i think i have everything now...

Other question , what is sleeving? My tuner said that 2.2 requires sleeving and unfortunatly in belgium no one he knows is able to sleeve a block.
so he would keep 2.0 rebore the block jusdt fit the new pistons 86.5 .

thanks for input
