Rocking the Evo L's

Finally got around to getting the seats off the garage floor and into the car. The only way to get the seats mounted as low as possible was to make custom mounts. I worked out some parts trades and services with Veilside180sx, one of them being the seat mounts. I made the 6 hour drive to Portland Friday night and we sent all day yesterday getting these mounts built... and just got back home after another 6 hour drive, oh the fun

Onto the pictures!

Drivers side seat mount started... There was a fair bit of time spent getting this far, the cuts, bends, drilling the holes, and cleaning up the cuts took a bit of time. The passanger side went by much faster since we had the drivers side to use as a template.

Drivers side mounts finished. These are what the finished (minus some cleaning up and a coat of paint) product looks like for the drivers side. The passanger side mount is a mirror image of this one. That 1/2 rod is stronger than it looks, with everything bolted down there was zero movement in the mounts...

How low can you go... without cutting out the hump on the drivers side, this is how low you can go

your truely, finishing the passanger side.

A view from the front....

The passanger side turned out perfect. The drivers side could be forward about 1/2", but I'm not complaining... I just made a 6 hour drive back and love the seats.

A big thanks to Richard for his time put into getting these seats into my car...

So do I . The next best thing is to have friends that weld though

Next on the list is to get a harness bar built and install the 6-pt harnesses that are sitting on the shelves installed. A cage might be coming next year... still waiting to see if well have a local track or not next year .

It was all we could do to get them done in time before a store we needed to go to closed. Rattle can....had to be postponed.

I'd been so busy since getting back I completely spaced testing out the new seats with the helmet on!

with the butt pad out and helmet on, I'm happy to have a good 2-3" of head room . With the ebay special seats the helmet was touching the headliner

heck, even the wife likes them... she asked if we could install a set in the Outback

She'll like them until she gets swamp butt from riding in them for an hour plus drive. No air circulation in buckets so your whole backside sweats.

It's not that bad... It's when your helmet is soaked after a 20minute session because you had to run the heater to finish the session .

I had an Evo in my sentra for 2 years, black car and no AC

Ha. I sweat a lot in my Vaders, I can only imagine what this would be like!

Ha. I don't "run" my heater exactly, but the coolant is constantly flowing through the core because of the way I have the trap door and (thus) inlet valve set. Air flows across it I'm sure, it just isn't pulled my the fan. Between that and the lack of sound deadening, it gets rather warm. I found myself opening the face shield just to cool off a little.

When/if I add a muffler, I'm thinking about having the DP flange changed to a V-band style (or welded to the exhaust directly) for ground clearance and wrapping the DP & exhaust as far back as I can. I've also though about eventually blasting the underside of the car and applying heat-reflective material.

In the end though, it's still going to be hotter than donkeyballs.

I got them off ebay, never used... just sat in someones spare bedroom for 2 years. As with the 240, I hit the jackpot with these... $750 shipped for the pair, and they came with two pairs of aluminum sidemounts.

I sold off the aluminum sidemounts for about $200 on ebay, sold off the old blue Sparco Evo I had locally for $350, the old mounts for the sentra for $100, and still have to sell the sparco slider and steel sidemounts that I have. If I do the math, I actually paid nothing for these seats
