Exhaust... you can never go too big!

As much as I enjoyed the quite exhaust, I could kind of tell the 60mm piping was holding me back... I mean it sounded like air blowing through a straw on the front straight at the track

Luckily Ken at Enjuku Racing was doing a GB on one of the only cat-back exhaust setups that I've liked, the JDM Hybrid Megaphone exhaust. I plan on painting the muffler a flat black before I throw it on this weekend .

It transitions from 3 to 3.5" here, I think this should help eliminate some back pressure

Tokes, it set me back just under $400 shipped... it was actually $299 + $95 (flat shipping fee) and well worth it.

Looks good Monty. Should be interesting to see how loud it is.

'Course at that price any quality exhaust looks good Please post pics when you paint and mount it; I've been thinking of shooting my bling-tastic muffler black, except for the tip.

I'm also interested to see how loud it is... I have a feeling it won't be as loud as my 3" side-exit setup that I ran on the B13 .

A few of the reviews I read on this one mentioned blinding the cars behind them due to the muffler being polished. I agree that leaving the tip unpainted will probably be the best look for this one.

A vote... do you think I should paint the whole muffler (minus the tip) -OR- just paint the back section of the muffler, what you would see from behind.

The main reason for painting it, is the complaints I've heard people mention... blinding the people behind you at night... since it's polished and acts as a mirror.

My only fear of painting the whole muffler is that after a year I'd have rock chips all over the can and it will look like ass. Of course I do like the not-so bling look of a painted muffler. Ehhh, I don't know

Input...

Paint it - you don't get that many chips there and you can always mask and respray easily.

(I have a stealthy black IC as well)

Its funny you mention that, because I was just talking to a local friend about that just respraying it once a year or as needed to keep it looking clean

Yeah, I'm not really into shinny mufflers... they attract the wrong crowd typically

The muffler itself is much nicer than the N1, and the quality of the exhaust is very nice. The best thing about it is the sound. I had one on my S14, and I really liked it.

Nice Monty. It actually looks a lot like the RS*R system we bought for our car. PS I had completely forgotten about those bolts but I mailed them out today.

Yea I saw that exhaust a few months back...Man I should have picked it up when it was 400 shipped :/ It's apparently a really quiet exhaust, like my Exmag is supposed to be.(thing's still loud with a turbo)

I'd really like so see it when you paint it black. My friend has a cobb exhaust on his STI and that thing is blinding when driving behind him lol

agreed, from the few pictures I saw it seemed to have a better build qty then most.

Matt - I think the only major difference between the RS*R and this one, besides the 3 to 3.5" transition in piping, was that this one has the resonator... correct me if I'm wrong though

I painted the mufffler section today and after seeing the finished product, I think it was the right decision.

Most of what I used to do this... some 320grit (waterproof) sandpaper, masking tape, and flat black engine paint.

Ohh, how shinny the muffler is.

10 minutes of wet sanding to prep the surface for paint... I cleaned the surface with brake parts cleaner and shop towels

taped off a few areas and used the original box to get the muffler up in the air to allow me to do this all at once.

The finished product... this was done with about 5-6 coats at 10 minute intervals.
