Please help andone have any idea!?!?!

sorry this is so long but please read through!!!!
Alright so i got my 240 about 3 weeks ago its a 1992 fastback i was pumped when i bought it the guy said the fuel pump would need to be replaced because when you step on the gas it cuts out. their was also a check engine light on. so i figured id start from the top and check the code. then when i found the ecu it was mangled. so i replaced it... simple fix! turned off the check engine light and it ran like a champ. then the next day the light came back on then i would drive about an hour away get out at the gas station to get something come back out and the car wouldnt start unless i turned it on and off repeatedly till it started then the other day it started sputtering when i was on the highway at about 70mph or so but would stop after about 15 miles.... and would randomly start doing it again. then one day after about and hour and a half drive i was at a light and it just died then it wouldnt start (but unlike before it was actually turning over) then after about 30 seconds it finally started so i drove up the hill and it was sputtering alot... i pulled over and it died again... so i let it sit for a while started it back up and it was fine for the drive home. then the next day the power steering started going out so i put in more fluid and when i pulled out of the gas station the powersteering took a dump and it started pouring fluid. so i took it to the mech and he fixed it it was just the big *** bold with the 2 washers (one copper and one aluminum) then he spreayed it all down with carb cleaner, some kind of degreaser im guessing, and then washed that all off with water.... so it was fine to drive around all day until i stopped at one place and when i came back to the car it was acting like the battery was dead so i popped the clutch in reverse as i rolled down the hill to start it and it worked so i drove for about 20 mins and AGAIN it wouldnt start. i got a jump. it started after a while drove it home. i get home pull in and it almost dies when i parked. i turned the key off and everything shut off not even power to bring the seat belt thing down. so i get out to check the code on the ecu and look over and i head a repeated clicking underneath like where the center consel storage box is and i can see the light under the dash flashing. so i find a gold box under the center consel thing and i just unplug one of the things and it stops but the car wont start. im really lost at where to even begin! so any ideas would be much helpfull! hell ill even pay someone to come check it out if they could im in santa rosa california

Sounds like you have a lot of problems on your plate, I would start with not driving it daily. I had a similar problem with my s14 , it would cut off while I was driving.

Plug what ever was connected to that gold box back. Then check the alternator to see if it went bad. (pull both battery cables from the battery after you get it to start) If the car shuts off after you do that, then you have a bad alternator. Replace it.

Also be aware that you alternator still may be bad if it passes that test. The diode (I think that's what its called) if damaged or worn may still continue to draw energy from your battery even after the car is turned off. Which may cause you car to not start after you shut it off, or all the electronics in your car may shut off and not turn back on for a while.

After all that hopefully your car will start, if not then I would check the battery to make sure its not bad. You can take it to a pepboys or some thing to check it they usually do it for free. After you know you have a good battery clean all the terminals with sandpaper until they look clean. Make sure your battery's ground cable is securely grounded to the motor and to the chasis( that's how its connected in my s14 from factory) and free of corrosion. Connect everything back to where it was, and it should be fixed.

If its still not fixed check the starter then the ignition switch it may have gone bad. This is what happened in my case. As for the sputtering start with a full tune up, and go from there. I do not know if what I told you is the best way to go about it, its what I did in order to fix my starting problems, and it worked for me. Maybe some of the other members may chime in with more advise if your having more problems after all that.

update

alright well i didnt know where to start so what i did is took it down to kragen to get it checked out so they could check battery/ starter/ alt. kinda messed *** they hooked it up to the machine but for some reason the car wouldnt let the kid test all of that BUT as a starting place what i did was replaced the battery and terminals. so far its workin alright. the other day i was trying to head over to my ma's and i get in and turn it on and the motor was turning over but it just wasnt starting so after messing around with it for about 15 mins and trying to push start it and then jump starting it it finally started.... weird *** it didnt really need to be jumped but i think maybe the extra juice helped or something... next week im going for the tune up and get a new TPS sensor and EGR and exhaust and gasket and... well hell i forgot the other thing that the CEL was throwing. but today just did the new brakes man the old ones where shot but thanks for the reply and if anyone else has anyidea throw them in
