Bought my '93 in June of 1993 at Andy Ryan Nissan in Winchester, KY. Had read all the Car and Driver stories, had to find a solution for my '91 Camaro RS, one with the 305 motor in it.
I was going freelance (I was a magazine/editorial photographer), and needed something that gave better gas mileage than the Camaro.
Did some research on the SE-R, went to Ryan Nissan on a Friday. Test drove it, fell in love with it. Asked the owner of the dealership himself exactly what he wanted, rock-bottom price. I had the invoice details in front of me, just to let him know.
He came back and said, "How's $700 over invoice sound?" I said, "Done deal." One hour total time from test drive through done deal.
I really wanted to modify her the next few years, but couldn't, as my livelihood depended on the SE-R. She did just fine, racking up 140,000 miles in 4 years.
We've been all over the midwest/southeast together, we've been off-road a few times, and we've been in some great stop-light grand prix races with more expensive cars. We've been to flood disaster sites, NCAA tournaments, and just about everywhere inbetween. Only replaced a fuel pump, at 108,000 miles.
After starting my own publishing company in 1998, I leased another car, and it was time for the SE-R to have some fun. Suspension, nitrous, etc. went in, and we've been having too much fun together ever since.
The SE-R just keeps on taking all the abuse I dish out to her, and still drives home from the track every single time, without so much as a hiccup. She can get cranky, but I know how to cure that.
I have the 'Picks on Cars Twice Its Size' ad, framed and hanging across the room from me.
I also have the original window sticker ($14,870) and all original documents, in a nice folder, well preserved.

Of the 149,000 miles on the odometer, I have driven them all but about 400.

The finest car I've ever owned, and one that I will never part with. Too much emotional involvement, not to mention the financial aspect of it, as well.
