I'm the original owner of my '92 SE-R. It's hard to believe that I was just looking for basic transportation at the time. I only had a motorcycle at the time and anything that would keep me out of the elements would be fine.
After test driving every entry-level car from A to Z, Nissan's Sentra really stood out. I initially tested the E model, which was quite a spunky little car, but really spartan. Lucky for me there were two SE-R's parked next to the E, GXE, and SE Sentras. A black SE-R with no options except A/C and a loaded aztec red one.
It was then that I recalled reading several articles in various automotive magazines about the SE-R. Car and Driver choose it in 1991 (and 92,93,94) as one of their Ten Best cars of the year. Automobile, Road & Track, just about everyone who reviewed it, raved about it. I had to see what all the hoopla was about.
One drive in the SE-R was all it took. I was trying desperately to hide my grin from the salesman. No way was I going to settle for anything else! The next day I drove that loaded 1992 azted red Sentra SE-R home. I haven't had to hide my grin anymore
