this is my first post to this message board, I saw the question about how to make 300 horsepower on a SR-20 motor.

it can be reasonably done using either a turbo or naturally aspirated build up.

all you need to do is use some math, and make some assumptions.

the combustion process follows the laws of Thermo dynamics and chemistry, you can calculate what is needed get 300 horsepower.
the primary thing that you need is break specific fuel consumption, a high compression SR-20DE would have a BSFC close to 0.45, which would require 150 Lb of Gasoline to make 300HP for 1 hour

Next assuming a mixture of 12.5 :1 to give optimum power we now know we need 1875 Lb of air / hr

with air having a density of 0.0742 lb/cf we will need about 375 CFM minimum.

to flow that much air a 2 L SR-20DE would need to spin at close to 11,000 RPM assuming efficient air flow!

that kind of flow rate would require for individual velocity stack intakes with butterfly valves on each intake. extremely large valves, and a tuned exhaust. And a custom ground long duration cam

while not impossible, it would be expensive and difficult. another significant problem would be drive ability, most likely you would have trouble keeping idle below 2000

a turbo charger producing 18-22 PSI manifold pressure, using a good intercooler, will produce similar results. without having to rev the engine beyond 7000. the only thing that is lost is a turbo BSFC is much higher, between 0.55 - 0.6. in an endurance race that would make a difference in fuel consumption and pit stops, potentially giving the NA car a slight advantage
