Now I'm thoroughly confused. The FSM lists the tooth counts and ratios, and the ratios are not the result of the tooth count. Is there an idler assembly in the RS5F70 that is actually a divider set? Even at that...

'00 FSM says:
Code:
FINAL GEAR
Engine QG18DE SR20DE
Transaxle model RS5F70A RS5F70A RS5F70V
Final gear ratio 3.827 4.176

Number of teeth
Final gear/Pinion 71/17 71/16
Side gear/Pinion 16/10 14/10
 mate gear
And the '03 FSM says:
Code:
FINAL GEAR
Engine QG18DE
Transaxle model RS5F70A
Final gear ratio 4.176

Number of teeth
Final gear/Pinion 71/17
Side gear/Pinion 16/10
 mate gear
Why does the tooth count of the GXE mathematically conflict with the result ( 71 ÷ 17 = 4.174 ), while the SE is also mathematically incorrect ( 71 ÷ 16 = 4.437). And if the tooth counts and Sg/Pmg counts didn't change, why is the ratio different between '00 and '03 GXE transmissions?!? And how the Hell are you supposed to read tooth counts in the automatic transmissions?
