NA O2 Induction Gains

Would I see big gains from this intake manifold while I am NA? I plan on turboing later on and I know it will kick ass then, just wanting to know if it would be worth me buying one while I am NA.

Not to sound harsh, but I think you are better off starting small in your build. Your sig says you are thinking 400 whp, then check this thread: http://www.sr20forum.com/turbo/144357-sarah-forst-makes-448-whp.html

As young as you are, I would guess $$$ will be a factor; so you might want to concentrate on getting your car running well in stock form. Then install a T25 or T28 setup so you get used to the upkeep, etc of a turbo car. Otherwise you are going to be spending big bucks on trick manifold, etc that probably won't help you until you have a major turbo on there.

As far as your question, I have no idea.

Josh

There are many posts on IM design on NA cars. It is not something that will benefit yo until you are turbo. I agrre with the above post. Build a nice solid turbo setup and build up from there. Lets not put the cart before the horse here.

Well I think I will wait until after I get a turbo setup running to get the manifold. I was planning on a GT3071R turbo since it has more potential to make more power than a DP or T28, plus it will help keep the car a DD since it won't hit full boost at 1/4 throttle like the smaller turbo's will.

UMM 90% of the turbo's people use on SR's will not hit full boost on 1/4 throttle. I have driven T25 and T28 equipped SR's and at 1/4 throttle they are not making full boost.

In 5th gear the spool-up on my T25 is retarded fast, makes driving the car very jerky at 80 MPH or so. I think he was just wanting something that has an "on/off" switch with the power delivery so that he can keep it civil. The T25 can do it, and IMO it just sounds like he doesn't have too much experience driving the car on a daily basis.

in that case why not have a boost solenoid setup like on a skyline? boost is limited to like 4psi until 4000rpm where 7psi kicks in... of course you'd need something like a vafcII vtec controller to trigger the solenoid as it is rpm based and factory ecu controlled...

VAFCII+solenoid would cost a bit and this solenoid is actually disabled by most skyline drivers by grounding it.

here are dyno graphs to show the difference in pwoer curve

No I just don't want to have full boost when I am daily driving.... I don't want to turn the boost on and off, just want to be able to drive normally under 3k or so.

Have you driven a turbo car before? Many people with zero turbo experience always talk about this issue and realize once they have turbo car experience that it is not an issue typically, regardless of turbo size.

yeah dude... its dependent on your right foot.

i had a gt starlet with the smallest turbo in the world (CT9) that started spooling at like ~2krpm when flooring it...

control your partial throttle regardless of rev and you'll never hit full boost.

We are on the N/A forum guys let's get back to the thread as I was about to ask that....

Has any one tryed one of these manifolds on a N/A car, I already have a big CAI and a bigger TB so that would be the next step on the intake side of the engine.

Yes it has been tried as have other IM's. Even on a heavily modded NA car (high compression and the like) the IM provided marginal if ANY gains.

It is meant for turbo applications.

IIRC Kojima tested several different intake manifolds on his NA 200SX project. If you do a search I know it is a well discussed topic within that thread.
