pop charger and volocity stack

iv searched the forums and google. im still not completely sure what the pop charger and volocity stack are. how is the pop charger diff from a normal cone filter? does a volocity stack just extend the length of the intake piping or just alow the use of larger intake piping? hp gains for each would be nice. im sure its no more then maybe 1 hp gain but id deff. like to find out if its worth spending the extra money over getting a normal short ram. also when installing an intake do i have to get a diff. maf? sorry for the book here, im not used to worrying about the maf. on my teg and z24 it was just a hose i hooked into the side of the intake piping.

It just smooths the entry to the maf. The POP charger isn't the only filter adpater to use a velocity stack either- if you search someone found a cheap adapter that uses one. HKS uses something similar on some of their adapters (Z32, but not B13 IIRC), as does Blitz.

Versus a cheap e-bay adapter (essentially just a plate and a pipe) the POP showed a 1HP gain pretty much all through the powerband (this is from personal testing, not regurgitated magazine numbers or whatever).

Hey Mike where did you get that filter. I am going to replace mine soon and wanted one that was smaller than the one that comes with the 300zx pop. If you have a part number that would be great. Thanks

I actually bought it used off the forum with that filter on it.

If you get the measurements of the flange and the length you want check out K&N's site. The universal guide has all the dimensions and part numbers you would ever need to find what your looking for:
