"For the deep pocket people"

I find that description of this forum funny. I would have spent twice as much on my car going turbo if I had.

Sure I'd be going twice as fast, though.

Yeah but it seems like w/ NA you always find something else to buy thats like a thousand bucks. W/ turbo it seems like you can get an easy 200-250hp for 2-4 thousand.

yeah, with turbos, most guys just slap on bigger turbos. NA, to make more power, you eventually gotta go high compression and head work which is $$$$

WAA!!!!! I am not able to sleep I am craving turbo so bad right now. I'm glad I realized N/A was too expensive for me before I put any more money into it.

Hmm depends. Low mileage usually means a good engine for turbo. I'm no turbo expert. It's whichever way you want to go really. DET or DE(T).

I had a strong DE, but I chose to go DET instead of kit and I am glad I did., just my 2 cents.

Well... it's not called the "bolt-on" forum.

Once you crack it open, you need deep pockets - esp. if you want to approach turbo output. Imagine how much money you'd spend trying to put 250, 280 N/A horsepower down with no forced induction.

NA is for poor college students like me who have to buy parts little by little instead of thwomping down one big hunk o' change on a turbo engine. Most of us guys don't have 3 or 4 thousand to lay down all at once.

Agreed! Nothing worse than being in school trying to mod a car.

I'm in the same boat, and although I'd love to go turbo, I'm also liking the fact that every time I do something to the car it goes faster and faster

WHAAA WHAAA WHAAAA, oh im so broke cause im in college.

Im in college, fourth year, instead of spending money a little at a time on N/A, save it or buy a piece for a turbo kit. Thats what i did, it took me 8 months(and my tax returns) to get turbo kit completed. I would like to see an N/A car make 321whp.
Oh i am keeping the car Crono1321 "for now"

For all the N/A people saying they need 3-4 g's to go fast with a turbo kit/engine. You are forgetting about nitrous. If you go the JWT way, then it will be a bit pricy. But if you do a dual fogger into the intake 100shot, it should only run you a couple hundred of bucks. from 150hp to 250hp instantly, isn't that lovely

Well, I'm not sure if you're still paying off your car like me, but I'm pretty sure you're not paying $4000 a year on your insurance! And I'm not about to go nuts and put a couple grand on my credit just so I can add to my college debt. Let me just put it this way, everyone's situation is different so I don't want to make it look like I'm ragging on anybody, but I never had nothing laid out on a platter. My mommy and daddy never bought me a car or paid my insurance or even pay for my books in college. I've worked for everything I have, therefore I know what is within my limits.

well ill add my name to the poor college student list lol. i make around $150 a week w/car payment and insurance. modding my car is hard. i wouldn't be near as far along as i am if the place i bought my rims from wouldn't have messed up and never charged me for them..and god bless tax returns lol. sucks though bc i have 6 months of insurance, car payment, traffic school, and weekend trip coming up to pay for. oh well ill live lol

I once read in sport compact car, that college loans are a great place to get funds for modding a car

I too have never been handed anything, i pay my way in life like everyone else, i work 36 hours a week and carry a full load at school (13 credits) so i am no slacker. Im just saying have a little patience and the outcome will oughtweight the sacrifice.

MY 2 Cents..

I want to go turbo . however I too am not rich and have a life which means paying rent, bills and all that great sh*t..

so I have learned to just live with the fact that I am not going turbo for sometime.. in the meantime I am just learning the basics about motors and what not.. NA is a great starting point.
